AIBU to hate waiting for my period to turn up?

NC'd from my usual sunny self.

My period is usually on a 27-30 day cycle. I'm now on day 29, so technically it's not late.

Only DTD once Blush (bad month for illness/work/stress) and used protection, nowhere near ovulation date, so no real cause for alarm.

Lots of stress at the moment which I know has always had a bad effect on my cycle.

So why on earth am I now stressed beyond belief that it hasn't turned up?! (And getting grumpy because, while it wouldn't be the end of the world, I don't want to be pregnant and I really wouldn't want a January baby!)

Surely I'm not the only one to stress like this?!

I'm going to join you in the stressing. It is due today but usually turns up the day before. It would not be a good thing for me right now

Well no chance i am pg as dh had the snip and just got his all clear. But a late period really pisses me off because it means its heavy and painful for me.

It started yesterday. I am not a happy bunny today. When I did have a chance of getting pg I used to stress. Even though we used protection so no real reason to think it would be. So you aren't alone.

Why don't you want a january baby?

DownandDispirited · 14/05/2015 06:57

Last baby was October, and due to a variety of factors, getting out was hard. January/February was bad weather so I guess that's a major factor. Also in Scotland so a Jan baby would be one of the youngest in the year.

And I've just sold the last of DS's kit!

I can't do hormonal contraception, I tend to clot after ops and react badly to anaesthesia so I'd rather not try sterilisation and DH isn't keen on the snip. So condoms it is, and panicking when I'm a day late.

As I say, wouldn't be the end of the world, but not what I would want right now.

I'm going to join you on the period moan except mine is because mine won't do one and go away. I suffer from pretty debilitating period pain so before ds took the pill to control it. After ds it didn't suit me so due to switching pills multiple times I've had basically one big long one for 9 months! The red curse strikes again! Though yeah I totally get stressing when it doesn't turn up at the usual time even when it isn't technically late yet.

BettyCatKitten · 14/05/2015 07:49

My DP has had the snip, one of the great things is inconsequential sex! Before I used to threat. I even got pg with twins on the implant! DP offered to have the snip, bless himSmile

You're probably not. Anyway, I don't think January babies are too much too worry about. You barely get out the first few months anyway and it would be April by the time it was 3 months and you'd have a whole spring and summer of mat leave out and about in the sunshine.

muminhants · 14/05/2015 08:25

Can I join you - not because I could be pregnant but because I am going away at the end of next week and periods and crisp white hotel sheets don't mix.

Also my last period was incredibly light and hassle-free which presumably means the next one will be horrendous - not what you want when you are away! Mine go on forever, start off with a trickle for about 4 days, then heavy for about 4 days and back to a trickle for another 4 days.

So hurry up and come so I'll be over the heavy bit when I go away!

January birthdays are rubbish for birthday parties and everyone's broke after Xmas, so I'd not choose it as a time to have a birthday unless you move to Australia. That said, ds is November, which isn't a whole lot better. He doesn't seem to hold it against us though.

DownandDispirited · 16/05/2015 20:55

So it did pitch up. And now I'm wiped out because it is, as expected due to the lateness, a heavy one. Bleurgh!
