Ok, posting here in the hope that someone can point me in the right direction, one of my sons has his promise coming up and wants to wear a dress with high heels.

I have no idea where to find a dress that will be cut to suit him, he is medium height but slender and obviously flat chested ( although he's not averse to 'getting' booms for the night.

Is there any where I can take him to shop or are there any online shops that cater for him? I've tried googling but getting nowhere.

Thanks

By which I mean for the prom, not just in general out of nosiness

Yambabe · 12/05/2015 23:04

for a really cheap option, have a look on Everything £5. He could get a few in different styles to try on and see what suits/fits best.

Something like this maybe?

Or if he wants a little colour maybe this?

He would love to post a pic! I will leave that up to him to decide though, we have until 7 of July to get the heels cracked and persuade him maybe not red high heels? He wants to have his hair to match

High five love! We are about an hour away from there but amazingly he has completely fallen in love with the one that Laura linked, the fourth one!! The cheapest one! Get in!!
( Not that I'm a tight tyke!)

No idea of cost but I know there are shops that cater for men who want dresses etc. Presumably they sell online too.

GoddessErrata · 12/05/2015 23:31

Have a look on etsy.com and have something custom made.

GobbyAbby · 13/05/2015 07:11

Wow he is very brave! Everyone is ignoring the elephant I'm the room bit I won't! I hop it memorable event for all the right reasons

Pipbin · 13/05/2015 07:14

I hope he has a fantastic time too Gobby.
I wonder if he knows that Mumsnet will be egging him on and watching from the sidelines.

TiredButFine · 13/05/2015 07:26

Ok shoe recommendations- if he is size 8 and under he will have no probs with primark or new look (my fave "night out" shoe shops) they do really nice well-made heels at a good price, although beware the super-high heels!
Size 9 and maybe 10 go for Deichmann they are also decent quality and quite fashionable and v reasonable prices

Fooshufflewickbannanapants · 13/05/2015 07:58

No elephant for him, he has always been just him.is very confident in his fluidity and he has a huge group of friends in his year.
He is a size 8 so primarni May be the way forward, I may be breaking records for the cheapest prom yet!!

Ooh! Ooh ooh! Laura that last link is amazing - now if only I weren't 5' 2"!

OP - you are the best - hope your son has a fabulous prom, and do post pics if he's up for showing off to the vipers Wink xx

Welshmaenad · 13/05/2015 09:07

If he has a wider foot, Evans do nice heels for the chunkier pied sighs ruefully at own chunky trotters.

I wish all mums were like you. I have friends whose teenage years would have been infinitely easier for having an understanding parent. Your son is very, very lucky and I hope he has an amazing prom!

frangipani13 · 13/05/2015 09:44

I have no clothing advice but wanted to say what a wonderful mum you are. It warms my cockles to read such a post and I hope I can be half as brilliant as you at this parenting malarkey.

That dress looks really nice - now when you say "hair to match" are you meaning colour? I have visions of scarlet read shoes and scarlet red hair...

SueBigFatSue · 19/05/2015 16:48

Wow, that really suits him! Can't wait to see the final look Smile

Fooshufflewickbannanapants · 19/05/2015 16:49

He's thinking pillar box red in hair and nail front ! Torn between black wedges or red shoes

OP posts:
kilmuir · 19/05/2015 16:53

Kewcumber · 19/05/2015 16:54
