to think when CB & tax credits get cut people will start working cash in hand and benefit fraud will rise?

I have already heard in my circle of friends people saying they are worried they will be skint when the tories INEVITABLY cut (and at worst, remove) child benefit) and many have already been thinking of cash in hand stuff they can do

and I don't blame them tbh. although I wouldn't dare I can see why people would risk it

someone i know who is a sahm even said fuck it if I lose my child tax I will just go on full benefits (ie pretend they are single)

obvs I am talking people with children here, I think it will be rife

Tons of people work cash in hand and always have, no matter who's in government.

Yes, maybe if there are cuts to CB and TC a few more people will do it.

I agree it always has happened but I think it will rise loads

will serve them fucking right tbh!!

I don't see the point tbh, they're unlikely to earn enough to bring them up to the tax and NI threshold so may as well declare it and reap the benefits later on in life.

Cash in hand work isn't easy to come across unless you have a particular skill-set.

Things like cleaning pay pennies, and one cleaning job would be wiped out by travel costs, you'd need seven or eight 3 hour + jobs to cover a travel card.

Plumbers/electricians etc. are different, and have historically operated cash in hand.

I don't think benefit cuts will make a difference. People with the skills required to make money are already doing OK.

I don't think they're going to get rid of CB all together, they're wanting to cap it at two children but that doesn't include existing children rather if you have more than two children after whatever date they bring it in. They did something similar with child tax credit, you don't get the same amount for children born after a certain time I think. It's fair enough really when contraception is free... Most people stop at two children nowadays anyway.

If they remove tax credits, which I also don't see them doing, they'll have to raise the minimum wage in line otherwise we will get to a state where families are being made homeless, food banks are the norm and yes, people will do dodgy shit to scrape by. It's survival instinct really, we'd all beg, steal and borrow if push came to shove.

well in my circle alone there are 3 hairdressers, a beautician and several cleaners, all stuff that could easily be done cash in hand.

a lot of us in my group of friends are worried that child benefit will be removed from all but the lowest earners ie NMW level and the unemployed...I think initially it will be cut to the first 2 or 3 dc but then whittled away completely :(

i'm pretty sure they've said that it will not affect those of us who already recieve it, but that any children born after a certain date will find it capped at 2 children.

WhiteConverseSkinnyJeans · 11/05/2015 11:36

hmmm they say a lot of things though don't they

he said he "didn't want" to cut cb and ctc but that's not the same as "wont"
