It was me that originally said:
'I think most people don't care if it doesn't affect them
to which I got a somewhat snappy reply about 'human nature', yesterday.
That had been my point actually - it IS human nature when in extremis not to care if it doesn't affect you - ie in fight or flight mode we protect ourselves and ourselves ONLY.
BUT we live in the 6th richest country in the world and we have the resources available to allow us to look up from the grindstone and consider the 'weaker' ones in the tribe - the ones who, for whatever reason, need some extra for a while whilst they cant create it for themselves.
I am so glad that there are people out there like yourselves who GET IT.
To each according to his needs and from each according to his abilities.
The idea is sound.
I feel our country has made a morally poor choice this week.
(btw, I live in Scotland atm and it is la la land atm, frankly, with crazy promises a go go and frankly feverish expectations which will end in tears).
I faced a real choice of voting SNP or Tory on Thursday, both of which made me feel ill.
I voted LibDem as I felt they were the most central and responsible party with a smattering of morals too.
Look where that got me
