To be concerned re DS nursery

Should preface this by saying DS is usually very happy at nursery, can't wait to get there etc each morning and nothing has ever made me think anything is "off"

Can't decide where to categorise this as either being concerning or most likely to have a reasonable explanation.

He came home today and was acting up straightaway, he's a headstrong character and I doubt the easiest in the group but they've never said he's been naughty or mean to other children etc, it's more that he tests boundaries (as all 2 year olds will I think?)

Anyway today he came and was even more strong willed than usual - ran off on the way home (didn't get farWink) and has been hitting/throwing things (not so normal for him) and I noticed not long ago that the scratch on his nose I had assumed he'd done with his nails wasn't actually a scratch but a red mark and also there was a red mark on his forehead consistent with falling over and bumping his head...

Anyway I asked him what happened and am suprised that I had no accident report for a bump on the head - he told me it was at nursery, but hasn't been able to tell me what happened - he's said the scooter, then said he was running and said it was both the grass and the carpet so not much sense there, but he's 2 so obviously he won't give much sense anyway. He has consistently said that his nursery worker picked him up though and also said she pushed him???? so I'm pretty sure whatever happened it happened at nursery and feel a bit odd about it not being mentioned to me when it's a bang to the head...

He later pinched me over and over repeatedly and this is a very new thing for him he hasn't been a pincher before today. I said don't pinch it's not kind, and he said (nursery worker) pinches me doesn't she? I asked him where and he lifted up his top to his belly...

Iv never seen any pinch marks before... But he's behaving really shouty/screamy and even been head butting things which he grew out of a while ago...

This is surely just my child's imagination? It can't be something more sinister can it?? Sad

Well you need to go in and have a chat.

As a cm I have accidentally stepped back and knocked a toddler over and I do play pinch little noses to swop with mine etc. imagine that told to parents could be seen as worrying. Grin

Go in and chat. 2 year olds can start unpleasant behaviours as they are 2 but you need to find out how he behaves there too.

Behaviour changes are common at this age, as are accidentents at nursery.

They should have done an accident report, but I would not be overly concerned at the lack of one if they have been good otherwise. Perhaps they did one but forgot to ask you to sign it?

I would talk to nursery, just to ask them if he got the bump there.

Its clear from your post that you are being reasonable and not jumping to any conclusions. I don't think it is right to ignore it so I agree speaking to the nursery and continuing to monitor for marks on him etc sounds like a good plan.

Purplepoodle · 08/05/2015 17:37

Go and talk to them. Other kids go though these behaviours so he could be copying what he has seen.

Thanks for your reassuring replies everyone, In fairness to the nursery it was very busy this afternoon at collection with lots of parents chatting being a Friday, im just suprised not to have been told when it's a bang to his head, I thought usual nursery policies with bangs to head was to ring the parents always because it's to the head?

It could of course have happened not long before I collected I suppose...

I haven't name-called anyone.

I merely factually stated on my facefuck earlier that Tory voters were pricks.

Wrong thread!
