Musical Mumsnet

stayathomegardener · 07/05/2015 21:14

Is it just me being subjected to random pieces of music on certain threads?
Is this a new thing that has totally bypassed me?
AIBU to think I am perfectly capable of selecting my own music if necessary.

I hear no music ever on MN ? which threads?

PHANTOMnamechanger · 07/05/2015 21:24

are you sure it's not a toy or a watch alarm or something going off in your house?

stayathomegardener · 07/05/2015 21:32

Quite relieved this is not a normal thing!
No checked the house, closed everything down on the computer bar Mumsnet, ear to the computer it is definitely coming from there.
DD has checked for me and she is very ICT savvy, a little audio symbol comes on on the bar at the top and when I hovered over it it did say something about music.
It has happened on four threads over the last week, light classical, different each time.
Really disconcerting.

Sorry what??

GraysAnalogy · 07/05/2015 21:42

One of the adverts could be videos that are playing music but I've never seen such adverts on MN

GraysAnalogy · 07/05/2015 21:42

You've not accidentally pressed play on the 'quick weekly dinners' video have you? At the side >>>

Sparklingbrook · 07/05/2015 21:47

Favouritism Olivia that's what. I want musical threads.

stayathomegardener · 07/05/2015 21:54

Really sparkling nothing to be envious of it has been like the music for "Steve Wrights radio problem page thing" most inappropiate.
Please don't worry Olivia I am SURE it will just be me...
Grey I don't think I have clicked on anything as it has happed whilst mid thread, happily reading (hands free) next minute loud classical music, won't stop till I leave the thread.

Right next time it happens I shall report and write down the blurb that I hovered over.

i think you might be onto something though. Imagine opening a goady thread in AIBU and 'I predict a Riot' playing? Smile

stayathomegardener · 07/05/2015 22:13

Yes perfect for AIBU, the OP could choose the song then we could all go completly off topic rant about that too.

I had a PC virus once that sounded like a radio station. I thought it was to do with Mumsnet but then realised that was mainly because that was the only webpage I was ever on Blush

stayathomegardener · 07/05/2015 22:48

Hmmmm Kenton, now you mention it computer is super slow and does have some small red flags I had not noticed before.
A musical virus, far more exciting than the norm Smile

Ok update.

I was in Chat on Itsmemario's "Anyone fancy trying to diagnose me" thread, scrolling down to the point Pacific dogwood was coming up with some interesting theories and upbeat classical music (quite suitable) started.
Hovered over the audio symbol that appeared in the tab at the top and it said "this tab is playing audio"...
Music continued until I left to update.
What is going on?

stayathomegardener · 07/05/2015 23:28

Back to active discussions and I now get a different piece of music.

Definitely favouritism here

Have you tried running a check of your pc for viruses and what not?

PacificDogwood · 07/05/2015 23:34

stayathomegardener · 07/05/2015 23:41

Maybe it is you Pacific, I will keep an eye out now.

Since starting this thread and checking I have noticed that I do have a red flag and a warning that says I need to install antivirus softwear but the laptop was new at Christmas and had anti virus softwear installed so am reluctant to click on that furthur.
