Rearranging my office and desk

Stinkylinky · 07/05/2015 13:22

I'm due to go on maternity leave in June and I have been training up the lady (let's call her Claire) who will be covering me for the past few weeks. She is lovely and I think she will manage my role well.

I've dropped a day a week now I'm getting quite big so Claire is doing my role on my days off. My issue is that I have come back from my day off and she has totally rearranged my office and desk in a way which makes things harder to access being pregnant and I can't find anything. I also explained to her the reasons why we file and archive things how we do and if we do it otherwise, we will fail our audit. Yet she has changed the whole filing system, in fairness to her I did explain the audit thing to her again this morning and she has said she will file everything as it was before.

I could totally understand her rearranging the office and desk to suit her way of working when my maternity leave has started but I've only had one day off!

AIBU in feeling a bit miffed?

I don't think you are being unreasonable at all! I think she has overstepped the mark a bit.

cailindana · 07/05/2015 13:25

YANBU, she clearly doesn't get the whole territory thing! I'd be very annoyed if someone did that to me. But you'll have to let it go I think or risk problems between now and leaving.

abigamarone · 07/05/2015 13:31

Sod letting it go, you've another 3 weeks of working at least, change it back, or get her to change it back. Tell her she can rearrange in June if she wishes.

Another vote for the piss off my desk very clear chat with Claire.
You can blame the hormones later.
Once everything is back in its proper place.

How rude!
Change it back, and tell her not to rearrange YOUR until she is doing the role full time.

SilverShadows · 07/05/2015 13:35

YOUR desk
FFS

FryOneFatManic · 07/05/2015 13:37

It's still your desk until you leave. She shouldn't be changing anything until then, regardless of you not being in the office on your days off.

And also, as you're pregnant, she can't change how it's laid out as you need to be able to access stuff without risk.......

Well yanbu to have had a word with her but seen as she's said she'll go back to doing it as it was before i don't see what the problem is. Also if you have a super special way of filing that is necessary for passing your audit this should have been explained to her at the beginning - there's no reason for her to have guessed this.

It was explained. It's now been explained again
