to be pissed off that my "unique" tattoo is showing up all over the place?

A few years ago I went searching for my perfect tattoo. I spent a lot of time looking for somebody who's drawing style I loved. Turns out the guy was in the USA but we spoke over skype and he came up with a design that I loved. He emailed the image and I found the tattooist I wanted to put it on my skin.

Anyway now, a couple of years on I keep seeing it popping up on the net. AIBU to be pissed that my tattoo is being copied

"I mean why Hmm"

I think I've found the answer and it took me about 0.001 milliseconds. Because they like them. You're welcome! XX

when I strted my last job we had a 3 month training course, on one day we spent the whole day designing a tattoo, seems odd but everyone got really into it, at the end everyone was asked to explain what they had designed and what it would mean to them, everysingle one had great meaning even though I was the only tattooed person in the room. Everyone got an understanding of how personal and important tattoos are to the people that have them.

The lesson was about judgements (health care role must treat everybody without judgement), yet on MN where everyone claims to not judges others for anything they are constantly on tattoos.
OP I love your tattoo and I hope it always keeps you safe.

AHEM

PacificDogwood · 07/05/2015 20:31

Hi, Olivia Smile
I hope you are not clearing your throat at the lovely 'dita'? Wink

Great example of what being non-judgmental should look like Thanks

DontWorryBeHappyNow · 07/05/2015 20:58

Propelus, all that vitriol is both unnecessary and uncalled for. Guess what, I too have never had a partner with a tattoo (medical or otherwise) and would never dream if having one myself as I find them highly unattractive - as do the men I'm generally attracted to - but FFS, nobody is asking you to sleep with the OP (I doubt she'd agree even if you did!) or even be her close friend, but there is no need to be so judgemental!

kinkyfuckery · 07/05/2015 21:49

Wow. I'm sorry to see that some people have interpreted my comment about 'squiggles' to be offensive. I honestly didn't intend that to be offensive. I actually quite like the main part of the tattoo. I genuinely am wondering what the thought behind the black squiggly lines are? I don't see what they mean - I wondered if the OP could shed some light onto what they are supposed to represent, since I guessed it was something she asked her 'designer' to incorporate into the design Confused

GraysAnalogy · 07/05/2015 21:52

Well it did sound offensive as have a few posts on here to be honest belittling a piece of artwork that someone has designed and put onto their body. Tattoos to a lot of us are works of art, they can be abstract or have realism. This seems to have both.

GraysAnalogy · 07/05/2015 21:55

In fact kinky it wasn't yours I was bothered about, just re-read the thread. Although you were the first person to mention squiggles your post didn't read badly.

GraysAnalogy · 07/05/2015 21:58

And the poster being a dick about the OP feeling safe because of her tattoos, how dare you!

You know how kids have comfort blankets? Or people wear a piece of jewellery that brings them comfort? or women who have tattoos to cover up scars from mastectomies to bring them peace and hope? Do you belittle those too?

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 07/05/2015 22:09

It's rare that I ahem at one poster - twas a general "peace and love" throat-clearing.
Sallystyle · 07/05/2015 22:11

I think your tattoo is beautiful OP.

I have no idea why anyone would feel the need to tell you it looks shit to be honest. I guess it makes them feel better about themselves for some fucked up reason.

Sallystyle · 07/05/2015 22:13

And Cheryl Cole does not have that on her arse Hmm

Flowers yes, that design? no.

Silverdaisy · 07/05/2015 23:16

I like your tat also. It's difficult for things to be unique, especially with images of flowers which physically exist.

purdiepie · 07/05/2015 23:19

I was joking.
