to be pissed off that my "unique" tattoo is showing up all over the place?

A few years ago I went searching for my perfect tattoo. I spent a lot of time looking for somebody who's drawing style I loved. Turns out the guy was in the USA but we spoke over skype and he came up with a design that I loved. He emailed the image and I found the tattooist I wanted to put it on my skin.

Anyway now, a couple of years on I keep seeing it popping up on the net. AIBU to be pissed that my tattoo is being copied

Poppy posy? Sweet

nb am on tinyphone and am terribly short sighted, aware it might well be sombreros at sunset in RL or suchlike.

Bearbehind · 06/05/2015 20:26

But yours and that other one are different except the flowers- which are pretty common aren't they?

kinkyfuckery · 06/05/2015 20:27

Have you considered that the guy who 'designed' it for you maybe ripped it off from elsewhere?

DinkyDye · 06/05/2015 20:27

It's a flower with some squiggly lines. Hardly unique Confused

Staywithme · 06/05/2015 20:27

it might well be sombreros at sunset in RL or suchlike.

starshaker · 06/05/2015 20:29

No he didnt rip it off from anywhere. I helped with how I wanted it to look. Its not your typical tattoo as in there is no outline and its meant to look like watercoulour

tsk tsk Evil AF. Grin
Can't you just be flattered, OP?

lostindubai · 06/05/2015 20:30

Who's going to know? (except you)

PeterParkerSays · 06/05/2015 20:31

Did you agree with him that you would keep the exclusive right to the tatoo or just think that because you had input into the design it was yours? I guess he was pleased how it turned out and found it to be a nice earner. Not sure there's anything you can do ftom the UK though.

Aermingers · 06/05/2015 20:32

I've never seen anyone with that tattoo. The thing is, if you are specifically looking for it you will find it somewhere. But I don't think it's a common design, I don't think anyone would look at that and think 'Oh that's common' like Kanjis in the 90s or Celtic designs. I think you have a skewer vision of how common it is. Does it really matter if a few other people have it?

ComposHatComesBack · 06/05/2015 20:32

I'm sorry but it looks fairly generic to me. Flowers plus a few doodles isn't a particularly original tattoo. I've seen similar tattoos knocking around for years.

kinkyfuckery · 06/05/2015 20:32

So what's all the squiggles?

By the way, the 'copy' looks older and more faded than yours.

starshaker · 06/05/2015 20:33

He hasn't given it to anybody. Hes as annoyed about it as I am

OP posts:
starshaker · 06/05/2015 20:35

kinky both of the tattoo picks are taken right after they have been done. Its obviously just lighter colours

OP posts:
Bearbehind · 06/05/2015 20:35

If he hasn't given it to anyone then have you posted it online for others to admire.........cos it can only have come from one of the two of you.

kinkyfuckery · 06/05/2015 20:35

He should be more annoyed about it than you... it's his design!

starshaker · 06/05/2015 20:36

yup its on there too. Im guessing thats where its being found. Never saw it there before. The dates are all after mine too

OP posts:
dementedma · 06/05/2015 20:36

I like the poppies but dont get the squiggles

NoArmaniNoPunani · 06/05/2015 20:36

It's a lovely tattoo, yours looks much better than the copy.

Next time if you want something truly unique get the tattooist to draw it straight onto you. That's how mine were done and there's no flash to copy then
