We all know people who just won't shut up, ever. We all know that people who have spent their lives on trivia, talking almost exclusively to other people spending their lives on trivia, tend to talk about trivia. And we all people who just don't understand that the assumption-laden wittering that they go on with is deeply offensive to many people - they can spout sexist, racist, xenophobic and trivial crap all day but if you dare call them on any of it, or talk about anything in the world that matters, you're a humourless, nasty, negative person and they don't need negativity like that in their life thankyou very much.

I know we all know people like this. So why does she drive me quite so bloody well round the twist?

Do you actually need her in your life? Just say something along the lines of "Mum, you're being boring again". First in a light tone, then a darker one, then get her coat.

yeah. I was in the process of getting off Skype when it was said. I'm as low contact as I dare. It makes me sad that I never really seem to get to talk about anything with my Dad, because my Mum won't let him do anything without her, and has convinced him that she knows best about everything social and that his former life (work) was a waste of space that noone wants to hear about.

Re giving her the URL, my Dad was interested. My Mum always berates him into a state of selfish triviality though, because she always knows best about what matters in life. Sadly, I think he believes her
