To be furious at DH

I am 38 weeks pregnant, so accept I might be overreacting slightly, but I have just picked my DH up from a day at the football with all his uncles/cousins/friends and been congratulated on the lovely name we have chosen for baby.

Nobody, not even my mum, knows the name we had picked and DH knew full well I wanted to keep something just for 'us'. Now his whole sodding family know Sad

I'm so angry, I don't even want to use the name anymore and I'm currently upstairs not speaking to him. It's not that he's over excited or anything like that, he just had one to many beers and couldn't keep his mouth shut when asked if we had a name yet.

AIBU?

We did the same thing, bifs. I had prenatal depression and it never felt like she was going to really arrive and so I didn't want people having even a tiny part of her until she was here so we kept the name a secret.

Nowt to do with announcements and reveals.

Sorry to hear that MyLonely, it's awful isn't it? Hope you're recovering well now.

I don't think that's ridiculous at all. After all the prodding and poking and interference from doctors etc, you wanted something nice for just the two of you with no outside opinion. So yanbu he has been a tit.

But all those lovely chats and laughing about names and meanings etc, still happened. The name is still your name that you both love. That hasn't changed. It's just been shared earlier than you would've liked. Congratulations on your pregnancy. SmileFlowers

Ahh I can kind of understand why it means so much to you now OP Thanks

But still, I wouldn't be too hard on him for blurting and I definitely wouldn't choose a different name.

Once you're holding your DD in your arms, all this will be a distant storm in a teacup.

Good luck with the birth Thanks

Now you're all making me cry!

Thank you, he's almost forgiven I suppose Smile

Drunk people often leak secrets. Is it THAT bad?

DragonWithAGirlTattoo · 03/05/2015 20:12

i know the threads about to be deleted, but "Yanbu, such a betrayal of trust. I would be so upset." ..... really - he gave out a name because he was excited and drunk, not shagged your mums cat!

YANBU at all OP, especially given your reasoning. Send him out for chocolate and to run a bath OP, if he's doing the eyes he can do some working too!
