My ds is 2.5 and crazy about bing (annoying black rabbit on cbeebies) since there is no bing toys available yet I found a pattern online and made him a cuddly toy bing. This has received a lot of attention and have happily taken peoples email addresses and linked them to the pattern.
This morning we went to the park and a woman approached me asking about my ds's bing, I offered to email her the pattern but she said she wanted to buy the one that I had made. I explained that he wasn't for sale but she kept offering me more and more money (£50 Shock) in the end after trying to explain I snapped a bit, said that its my son's favourite toy and its not for sale and to please leave me alone now.
She huffed off and left with her dd, less than a minute later my ds started crying "bing gone" I assumed he had dropped him off the climbing frame but couldn't find him anywhere, I walked to the other end of the park and saw this woman getting in her car with bing in her hands! I tried to run after her but she drove off, got my phone out to try and take a picture of the number plate but it was to late.
Who on earth would do that? I'm going in between being angry and trying not to cry. Ds cried the whole way home and is now looking around trying to find him Sad
My dd is a year old and we have been in and out of hospital with her for her whole life. I made bing as a present for ds for being angel at all of dds appointments, he even helps to stop her crying during tests.
Lucky I have lots of fabric left over so I'm desperately cutting out fabric to make another one.
I'm just in shock, who on earth would take a toy off a 2year old!
I really don't think the police would be interested in a homemade toy being stolen, sorry for the pity post, I just needed to rant Sad

What a thieving fucking ditch pig! I hope she gets her comeuppance. Angry I hope your DS is reunited with Bing soon golden.

iwantcontrolofcarmusic · 02/05/2015 09:31

Hi golden , your poor DS. Where did you tell him Bing went on his holiday? Perhaps some of us could send your DS postcards from Bing whilst you sort a new sewing machine?

oneowlgirl · 02/05/2015 09:33

Thanks for the clip Middle - Bing looks ace, can't believe I've not come across the show!
Glad there's a happier outcome Op.

FeelingSmurfy · 02/05/2015 13:19

Just read the full thread and have gone through a whole range of emotions, I can't get my head around an adult taking a child's toy! So many wonderful offers throughout the thread and its brilliant how those involved with the show (including the creator!) Have been in touch and made offers

TheFormidableMrsC · 02/05/2015 13:21

Speechless that doesn't happen often

Devora · 02/05/2015 13:35

Those who haven't seen Bing on TV (I haven't) might like to know that he started life in a series of books - that's how my dd got hooked onto him. They're very sweet books for littlies.

duchesse · 02/05/2015 14:06

I feel for your DS OP, as my DS's favourite Legs the Frog (a TY toy, they were all rage at the time) was stolen by a randomer from the pram he and his sister were in when he was 2. In time, there were other frogs, but none quite the same. I'm confident that your Bing II will be a close enough match though.

Might be worth making another one straight away just in case anything happens to Bing II, or if he needs to go in the wash?

Whatisaweekend · 02/05/2015 16:52

Haunt the park until you see her again. If she does turn up follow her, take photos and a note of her numberplate then return to the police. She should be strung up by her fingernails. I am speechless at such vile behaviour. She should be named and very very much shamed.

wtftodo · 02/05/2015 20:51

I haven't read the whole thread, but could you let the local paper know too? They might be able to run a small story/photo, and there's a chance someone would recognise the toy.. Hope your ds is ok. You sound like a lovely mum xx (unlike that horrorshow)

nickelbarapasaurus · 02/05/2015 21:06

shocking behaviour from that appalling woman.

I love that Bing's daddy is on the case though Grin

i hope you get him back.

RabbitsarenotHares · 02/05/2015 21:11

This is such a lovely thread. Really heartwarming (ignoring the reason for the need for it in the first place!)

Anyone want this in Classics? It really is MN at its best!

RabbitsarenotHares · 02/05/2015 21:12

Sorry, that was meant to be "anyone ELSE want this in Classics?"

Hexbramble · 02/05/2015 21:12

OP please don't let this lie. This is a shameless act of theft. Despicable behaviour - it turns my stomach that someone, a mother could do this.

Police.
Local paper.
FACEBOOK. Name her car and it's colour and a picture of Bing. Honestly, I am no dan of social media but this is something you need to do.

Hexbramble · 02/05/2015 21:13

Fan. Not Dan Blush

YourKidsYourRulesHunXxx · 02/05/2015 21:14

Spent the last fifteen minutes crying on and off at this thread.

AGnu · 02/05/2015 21:51

We adore Bing here. It's like baby-hypnotism & the only way we can cut nails/hair without screaming tantrums. I always get a bit wobbly when Bing gets upset, mostly because he usually reacts exactly the way my DS would! DS1 has taken so strongly to Bing that he insists on being called Bing, I'm Amma and have to speak "in an Amma voice" which I really can't do, DH is Flop & DS2 is Pando. The absolute highest praise he can receive at the moment is being told "good for you, Bing Bunny"! Grin

OP I hope she's found & publicly humiliated! I'd be devastated if someone did that to DS1 - he has ASD & would talk for months about it. Hope Bing2 serves as an adequate replacement for him! Flowers

concreteelephant Ted/BingDaddy and Helen married??! What an amazing house that must be. Oh I am in awe. I honestly love all Helen Cooper's books. The illustrations are wonderful and tie to the stories in such magical ways. And BGMG is magical. How wonderful. That's made my day.

BonzoDooDah · 02/05/2015 22:21

Bing Obvs not some random letters.Shock

UncleT · 03/05/2015 00:59

Absolutely do not agree about the Police not doing anything. It may be low value, but it was a blatant and calculated theft from a vulnerable child. I'm astonished - go maximum publicity, as suggested a few posts ago.

SoupDragon · 03/05/2015 07:11

Anyone want this in Classics? It really is MN at its best!

Well, it's certainly a classic example of mass hysteria.

SirChenjin · 03/05/2015 08:38

Bah, humbug.

ConcreteElephant · 03/05/2015 09:33

Hehe Bonzo, I missed your second post and was racking my brains wondering what BGMG was!

We are Helen Cooper fans in this house too, Pumpkin Soup is a much-loved and well-thumbed autumn read, complete with actual soup making - did it once in desperation to fill a grim afternoon and now it's a 'thing'.

With Bing we initially met him in book form and I was so wary when I heard it was being transferred to the screen but it's so totally delightful - and I am envious of Bing and Flop's mid-century interiors Smile...and Flop's patient dealings with Bing of course.

Just saw this on Facebook Grin

I was just coming on to post that link! I think I've got something in my eye...

CSIJanner · 03/05/2015 12:14

Blatant hint - okay! Request. Would love to see new bing and flop when they come back from holiday.

Stealing - it's not a Bing thing
