To think this is a con?

Someone just knocked on my door, handed me a note saying she was deaf and selling her drawings to pay for school. I said no thank you. I'm thinking this is a con, am I being cynical?

A reputable art college would never suggest that a potentially vulnerable young woman should go knocking door to door. Boot fairs, craft fairs yes - door to door - no way.

If you want to knock on doors and ask for money for a good cause, you have to have a licence. I don't think you're being cynical at all.

con im sorry to say i tried to say it happened to me and he stuck his foot in the door i told him remove it or im calling the police he was not happy with me at all for that one!

we also get the ex con selling pegs and stuff to make money

Oh I had this once...not an art student though. It was a man doing a poor and really offensive version of how he perceived a deaf person would try and speak while making hand movements which had no connection to BSL.

I laughed at him then signed out (while also talking) that I was onto him and would be calling the police to let them know. I received a very clear stream of abuse and a universal sign of a finger as he stomped off.
Still makes me giggle now.

We had a chap come into the pub I managed with a card. I explained we didn't allow unarranged collections.
He told me to fuck off.
