In spite of the distress it caused DS4(5)?

And who knew a temper tantrum can last 7 hours??! Shock
I suppose 5 yo have a fair bit of stamina…

So, the local Beefeater it was: my parents, myself and DS4.
Not exactly glamorous, but a step up from the golden arches, I felt Grin

But you would have got a balloon. Poss a snog from Ronald himself?

wetspringtime · 26/04/2015 17:13

7 hours? Shock Does he have additional needs?

AGirlCalledBoB · 26/04/2015 17:14

Oh dear, you have gone and done it now Grin

Tell him you can go Mcdonalds on his birthday instead.

Happy Birthday, hope you have had a nice birthday despite the 5 hour tantrum!

PacificDogwood · 26/04/2015 17:16

Well, he may well have additional needs, but not Additional Needs, if you get my drift: he just has the memory of an elephant and can sulk and remain uncooperative for hours (this is not the first time).

Basically, he heard 'lunch' and 'birthday' and to him that equalled 'Happy Meal'.

And you have put your finger exactly on what irks me so much about this (apart from the fact that on a culinary basis McD does not get me very excited): their fucking marketing strategy works so bloody well!!

YANBU - but you have my sympathy for the tanturm.

Did you also have a n'angover from yesterday?

Sorry I didn't make the party, Aidan Turner popped round so felt it would be rude to leave.

magimedi · 26/04/2015 17:17

PS Happy Birthday - you are catching me up - FAST!!

PacificDogwood · 26/04/2015 17:17

Oh, thank you, yes, was a lovely birthday with friends helping me celebrate the next day Smile

A snog from Ronald may have just been the end of me Shock

Happy belated, P-Dog, hope it was great. Cake Wine Flowers

Seven hours is truly impressive though.

magimedi · 26/04/2015 17:24

I just picked him as he is everyones' fave heart throb at the moment!

He's in Poldark on the TV ( which I haven't watched) & seems to get womens' pulses racing!

balletgirlmum · 26/04/2015 17:25

Absolutely not

I similarly rebelled against having my family birthday lunch at Taybarns (we go because fussy suspected ASD ds eats well there)

I enjoyed my Toby carvery instead.

Happy Birthday OP

TapDancingMollusc · 26/04/2015 17:28

Would it be unreasonable to have a 7 hour tantrum on his birthday and stomp around making his life hell? Grin

Hope you're having a good birthday regardless. WineCake

PacificDogwood · 26/04/2015 20:26

Thank you, HTD Smile

Ah, see, if you'd've said 'Poldark' I would've known who you meant, magi Grin

Tap, it was exactly that, that finally got him out of the car: "If you don't come out of the car now, stop spoiling my birthday and sit at the table with us, I will not organise your birthday party that you really want".
I feel a bit mean about that threat now, and would never have been able to stick to it either (but was fairly confident that he would come…). Oh, parenting, what a breeze! Hmm

YANBU, Happy Birthday! ! Grin

maninawomansworld · 27/04/2015 16:14

YANBU at all. A belated happy birthday to you!

Your DS should count himself lucky you take him at all. I have young twin DS's and on my birthday DW usually takes me out somewhere nice without a child in sight and they stay with grandparents.
