to laugh at the sight of this UKIP battle bus today?

petrol stations are fairly limited in my rural area - at least 15 miles from one to the next.

so... driving along today I had to snigger at the sight of the local UKIP battle bus making a fuel and no doubt coffee/coke/choc/crisps etc stop at one of these few and far petrol stations - which is an independent, and owned and run by an Asian family.

that must be a tricky thing really to balance if you are a Kipper: "shit we need fuel/food! omg, there's a brown chap/chapess behind the counter!"

oh yeah really funny - voting UKIP is about stopping this country from becoming even more over populated than it already is

Sallyingforth · 24/04/2015 22:45

I really wish UKIP was a laughing matter, instead of a bunch of hateful rejects from the BNP.

samsam123 · 24/04/2015 22:55

almost as funny as the (lets engage with the woman voters) pink battle bus - anyway all those people saying that about UKIP sound as bigoted as you think UKIP party members are.

yolofish · 24/04/2015 22:58

well, in an almost totally white area, with really very litle to fear from all those "dreadful immigrants taking our jobs" I guess the fear of running out of fuel in the middle of nowhere might mean one could overcome one's dislike of the brown people...

Am I bigoted about UKIP? you bloody bet I am!

Little things please little minds, so they say. Your OP certainly bears that out.

Sallyingforth · 24/04/2015 23:05

yolofish I don't suppose you are really bigoted about UKIP.

If you have read their policies and heard some of their supporters talking you will have come to a very clear understanding of their racist, almost fascist attitudes.

MuttonCadet · 24/04/2015 23:07

Getting sick of the kippers taking over this site.

Really unpleasant. Hmm

Nevercallmehun · 24/04/2015 23:20

Labour's pink bus for women was a red herring. They used pink for their whole conference not just women's issues.

Pixel · 25/04/2015 00:16

Our local UKIP candidate is asian so enjoy your rather pathetic little joke.

Sallyingforth · 25/04/2015 11:02

There's far more at stake here than UKIP's racism, as if that wasn't bad enough. Their policies reek of misogyny and homophobia.

Fortunately they are never going to attract enough voters to become more than just a bloody nuisance.

MoominKoalaAndMiniMoom · 25/04/2015 11:06

I'm just here to balance out the numbers so this doesn't become a UKIP love-in.

Misogynistic, racist, fascist party.

PtolemysNeedle · 25/04/2015 11:06

Silveroldie is spot on.

If you really think that's worth sniggering over, you need to open your mind up a bit. I'm sure if you do, you'll find things to snigger at that are worth it and actually make sense.

flora717 · 25/04/2015 11:11

UKIP get more votes in areas not impacted significantly by immigration. Having an asian candidate does not exclude the party from being one of racist/ misogynistic/ disablist/ homophobic individuals.
By that logic a woman could never be misogynistic. I'll be sure to tell my exMIL her gratefulness she never gave birth to girls because she wanted to be a successful parent is perfectly fine.

Psipsina · 25/04/2015 11:15

I must be missing something but why on earth would someone who wasn't white, male and ignorant become a UKIP candidate?

maliaki · 25/04/2015 11:21

What the hell is a battle bus? Do all the parties have one?

Sallyingforth · 25/04/2015 12:03

You don't need to be all those things to be a UKIP supporter Psipsina.

Just being plain fucking stupid will do the job nicely. And stupidity is so respecter of race or colour.

Idontseeanydragons · 25/04/2015 12:10

Our UKIP candidate is an Asian bloke - he's being used as an excuse for all the genuinely bigoted arseholes in the area to point at him and say 'look, proof that UKIP isn't racist, he's a GOOD immigrant!' These are the same people who think the last EDL march through the town was a good idea btw.

The sight would have tickled me too OP Smile

Dawndonnaagain · 25/04/2015 12:15

I too would have found it funny, but then my knuckles don't drag and generally speaking I can construct a comprehensible sentence.

samsam123 · 25/04/2015 21:55

bigots still here then

misssmapp · 25/04/2015 21:59

Bigoted if anti UKIP ???

Really???

Okay ......

Wish UKIP was a laughing matter instead a dangerous reality .

msgrinch · 25/04/2015 22:00

There's no hope for some people. No hope at all. Bigots for having an opinion on a serious matter? ok!

PeachyPants · 25/04/2015 22:21

The people I know who are UKIP supporters aren't bigots and say that immigration isn't the issue that draws their support, it's more that they have issues with the UK being part of the EU. I've already voted labour and am not a UKIP supporter but I do feel frustrated at the hyperbole on some of these threads, so often posters come along frothing and raving about comparisons with the Nazis.

yolofish · 25/04/2015 22:30

sorry for not replying, been busy. For the record: I think UKIP are a bunch of racist, mysogonsytic (sp?), homophobic (etc etc etc) wankers. Farage is nasty but clever; he is no more the common man than Cameron, Milliband etc (insert priviliged white man of your choice here).

but, oh what a terrible dilemma for the kipper battle bus!

"we need fuel, a wee, sausage rolls, and a bit of a break from our bus". "lets stop here - because there isnt another petrol station for 15 miles".
"shit! they are Asian!"

Lovely people that run it; I am sure they were very polite and nice, as they are to everyone.

OP posts:
beginnerrunner · 26/04/2015 07:48

Anyone who claims Ukip are not racist are kidding themselves. There is so much evidence of it if you bother to read the papers and watch the news. They hide behind the stance of immigration must be controlled for the good of the people but they've slipped up too many times with blatant racism to be ignored. Then there's the candidate who said all disabled babies should be aborted. I could go on but personally I think anyone who wants to vote ukip needs to spend some time doing some proper reading up on them first.

AlternativeTentacles · 26/04/2015 08:01

voting UKIP is about stopping this country from becoming even more over populated than it already is

And yet their support is coming from areas that are not overpopulated at all. Strange that.
