to think the E4 switchoff on election day is a strange idea

E4 are suspending their usual programming for that day (only until 7pm mind so not brave enough to suspend the premiere episodes of American comedies like Big Bang) and there will be some young bloke called Darren sitting in front of/operating a switch . AIBU to assume some will tune in anyway just to see what he gets up to.
After all there are plenty of viewers who watch Big Brother live feeds when there is nothing really much happening. And it also assumes that no young people have jobs at all and just watch tv all day. Strange idea.

It's just a gimmick. They're after some publicity.

Of course, there is always the outside chance they actually are arrogant enough to think that people are glued to their channel so they need to switch it off to make people participate in the democratic process. Grin

Is it true?

I assumed it was a fake idea?

Stealthpolarbear · 24/04/2015 18:51

to think the E4 switchoff on election day is a strange idea

I don't think they are turning it off because they think people are too busy watching it to vote.

I think they are turning it off mainly for a gimmick, but also because they think people's focus should be on the election, not on re-runs of whatever they show on E4. So people should be watching one of the main channels and therefore they are switching off.

OK my name is fourquenelles and I am watching Darren. It is compulsive. He has just been entertained with a dance from a bear furry complete with smoke and disco ball lights.

This has just scrolled along the bottom "Who wins, you decide. Just like Big Brother..........but important".

Please do come and joint the panda obsessed thread over here:

You are far from alone!

MummaV · 07/05/2015 15:28

not going to lie, being on maternity leave with a new born, being tied to the sofa feeding and not being able to get out to vote until DH gets home from work (polling station quite far, its raining, no car) not being able to watch dreadful reruns of crappy American comedies has ruined my day! Top Gear it is instead!
