Is this really an odd thing to do??

This morning me and my friend were walking past a school, and there was a spiderman sunhat on the road next to the pavement. I picked up the hat and placed it on a fence post nearby so it could be seen more easily.

Now I always do this, with hats, gloves, cuddly toys and clothes that I come across, which given I live near several schools is pretty regularly. I thought by placing it somewhere like a fence or a low wall, I was helping the parents if they came to look for it.

However, my friend pulled a face and said it was an odd thing to do, she has children, and I do not, so I wondered if other parents thought it an odd thing to do? Should I have just left it on the road?

Gloves, jumpers, dog leads, hats, teddies. You pick them up and put them nearby in a conspicuous place at eye level. what's odd about that?

No idea themadnessofMN, I just do it without really thinking, it's only because my friend commented and pulled such a face that I actually stopped to question if it's a normal thing to do. Judging by the responses on here it's perfectly normal so I will continue to do so. :)

Not odd at all! I always do this

Definitely not just you. I live on the main walking route to the local infant school. There are always things hanging off my wall!
