a friend of mine just said she's planning to do so. I know she's very tired and that her husband's going home late tonight - and I can't help but worry for her safety.
yes I'm probably overthinking it, yes she is an adult, yes she's probably done it before and I'm sure she'll be perfectly fine and merrySmile

But as soon as she said it I thought 'please don't fall asleep, please don't drown'Confused - because another friend's adult daughter died in the bath. she had an epileptic fit and drowned Sad and I know these two scenarios are completely different but I can't help it, alarm bells are ringing and I'm worried. because she was alone too.

So yay or nay on me BU about worrying.
Also is this something a lot of people do when on their own?

(btw I am not judging her at all and of course I didn't /wouldn't say anything)

I loves cold glass of cava in the bath, with a little bowl of nibbles and a good book :)

Agree with a pp - once I've finished I need to get out to top oh my glass so I don't stay in for long or fall asleep. I have dozed in the bath many times, especially when I had newborn dc and was exhausted.

Back in the day when I could still drink alcohol, my bathing tipple of choice was a nice single malt whisky.

Harverina · 22/04/2015 22:18

Oh this thread has reminded me tango have plastic champagne flutes which would be perfect!

Inflatable wine buckets? Wow. I need to get myself one of those!

Rosieposy4 Aaah, I see, thank you. I'll have to round up our differerent glasses and see if any of them work Grin

If we're branching off into different drinks, filling a glass with frozen raspberries then pouring Bailey's over them makes a lovely bath time slushie thing. You'll need a spoon to finish it off though.

I'm the most anxiety-ridden person you could meet but it had never occurred to me to worry about this!

Glass of wine, bubble bath and trashy women's magazine (AND chocolate) is my guilty pleasure. I've never fallen asleep from one glass of wine (though I have fallen asleep in the bath before, when sleep-deprived with babies, but it was fine. You just wake up when it gets a bit cold.)

ADSA sell plastic champagne flutes and wine goblets in the picnic/party section. Perfect for the bath. My bathroom is a glass free zone too.

Anyone fancy knocking through into my neighbour's bathroom so there's space for me to have a bathtub installed? Sad

McFox · 22/04/2015 23:01

I thought drinking wine in the bath was compulsory.

RusticBlush · 22/04/2015 23:10

Ahh age 15 - white lightening, castaway, 20/20, Thunderbird - boh Shock
Op... I thought a glass of wine in the bath was like bubble bath - compulsory!
Please relax and don't worry...you will drive yourself mad thinking like that Flowers

When I was a student I used to take 3 hour baths (topping up with hot) and drink loads of wine. I had to keep getting out to wee. I've not had a glass of wine in the bath for ages as I usually bath with DS or don't bath when he's in bed as the bloody bathroom is on the other side of his bedroom and he's a damn light sleeper. Used to love a glass in the bath though. I just love a bath full stop, I'd have one evey day (have been known to have two a day on weekends).

HicDraconis · 23/04/2015 00:21

I love the idea of something which goes over the bath to hold a book and a wine glass. Wonder if they make them in NZ?

Zing sure your friend will be fine :)

and it's not the drinking that worried me (she can hold her liqueur!!Grin ) - it's the combo of being exhausted, warm and having alcohol all making her sleepy....

I dunno, it made me feel a bit panicky.

Darling, you have far worse problems than your friend! My recommendation is that you go out, get blind drunk and chat up dodgy young men, could do you a power of good!!x

Patsyandeddie · 23/04/2015 01:58

Sorry, forgot the wine, bring it on!!

icclemunchy · 23/04/2015 01:58

I don't have a bath Hmm my shower is amazing but it's just not the same having a glass of wine in it.

She'll be fine op DP used to snooze in the bath all the time when we had one and the only prob was him locking the door so I couldn't pee!

Patsyandeddie · 23/04/2015 02:01

She's a grown woman YABU. Have more fun and get out more! X

kickassangel · 23/04/2015 02:09

Isn't the point of having a bath to fit in a little power nap as well?
