its never going to move things along is it? It this a personal attack?

Sparklingbrook · 19/04/2015 15:55

What's a better alternative to 'you sound charming' etc? Hide thread possibly?

ElizabethHoover · 19/04/2015 15:58

I suppose not to say anything about the OP, just to discuss the issue.

Everything we post is just our opinion, isn't it

Because when you're being derogatory pointing out someone's failings it's better to make it clear that you think they sound entitled/precious/lovely/whatever in , otherwise you sound like you're a twat making a generalised statement on behalf of everyone on the thread.

Sparklingbrook · 19/04/2015 16:00

Radical idea Elizabeth. Grin

SirChenjin · 19/04/2015 16:00

IMO obviously Grin

I'm another who cannot stand HTH - makes me rage full!

Sparklingbrook · 19/04/2015 16:02

Mostly when the Op sounds like a right charmer they have asked for opinions....

GraysAnalogy · 19/04/2015 16:03

Do we really have to be a forum of stepford posters?

I mean I'm not down with personal attacks, but it seems we can't say anything a bit snarky without it being frowned upon or 'peace and love folks'.

ElizabethHoover · 19/04/2015 16:04

Oh i would prefer MASSES of PAs rather than the trigger happy thing atm

but its like school uniform, do it properly or don't do it at all

People who cannot engage in the real argument and just attack others personally tend to shoot themselves in the foot by doing so.

Sparklingbrook · 19/04/2015 16:08

How about 'you are not exactly covering yourself in glory yourself'?

ElizabethHoover · 19/04/2015 16:13

could we have one thread where anyone who comes on it is ready to be attacked

we could call it 'attack zone' then just slag each other off

Great! What will the thread title be?

Sparklingbrook · 19/04/2015 16:18

Sorry thought 'Attack Zone' would be the topic. Grin With sub topics for different attack types...

MrTumblesBavarianFanbase · 19/04/2015 16:18

Somebody always feels compelled to offer "you clearly don't like him/ her/ them very much".

Sometimes that is the impression given, but often it's just sneery especially when the op is seeking advice on a teen/ pre teen child or stepchild or close family member who is causing them stress but who they are duty bound to love, even if they dislike the way they are behaving. ..

DrankSangriaInThePark · 19/04/2015 16:18

Some people are such twats though that I consider it community service to tell them....

I am currently loving "oh give your head a wobble" though. Obviously said in Mickey Flannagan's voice.

It covers entitlement/twattery/PFBness and, in the right context, the sheer bonkersness that can appear at the weekend.

ElizabethHoover · 19/04/2015 16:19

Great! What will the thread title be?

'Sparklingbrook is a slag'
