To want to snigger every time I hear the phrase making love

Pertinent information ....

I'm an actual grown up and have been for several decades.

I don't snigger when I hear "fancy a shag/fuck/quickly or anything like that it's just when it's making love.

And I cannot say it without snorting

So AIBU?

OMG Livid, yes totally makinglove is very what someone who would say panties would say... boak.

I did once ditch someone immediately for saying funbags as well... they're tits for bedroom/dirty talk purposes , boobs in polite company. And no i dont say breasts, thats for the Dr and the 'naice' brigade.

Sallystyle · 19/04/2015 03:07

I love the word "fucking"

EEVEElution · 19/04/2015 04:50

Auntiestella, isn't that line from Emma? Seem to remember Mr Elton being the one she was trying to matchmake but I could be wrong!

Toadinthehole · 19/04/2015 04:59

What's wrong with "know"?

"And Jehoshapat knew his sister, and the wrath of the Lord decended upon him".

NeedsAsockamnesty · 19/04/2015 06:26

To me, making love has more to do with intent than it does with the sex act; it's a gooey infatuation, which is quite an appropriate description of certain relationships. I also think it wears off.

peggyundercrackers · 19/04/2015 07:36

ive a friend who calls it "afternoon delight" and know someone else who calls it "a bit of the old hows your father"...

RusticBlush · 19/04/2015 08:51

Sorry NeedsAsock I had it in my head sazzle was the op haha - obvs had too much Wine last night Smile

noddyholder · 19/04/2015 09:00

I cringe too in the same league as 'we' are pregnant for me

gruffaloshmuffalo · 19/04/2015 09:06

Along that line, I struggle when I'm sending sexy messages to DH - what do I call my fanjo? In real life I call it a fanjo, in sexts it just looks odd. Like I meant to say "banjo" and got confused. Cunt seems too harsh, and vagina isn't sexy either.

But I also hate "making love". I do like the phrase bumping uglies though

tryinghardnottocry · 19/04/2015 10:06

Breeding..... or practicing at it!

tryinghardnottocry · 19/04/2015 10:09

It has always strike me as odd that God, with all his powers, decided that the act of reproduction should involve joining together the parts of the body that expel waste matter

HellonHeels · 19/04/2015 12:41

I've been laughing so much at some of these Grin

Boyfriend had to be introduced to saying "fuck", he prefers to "make love" it did make me cringe but I've got used to his funny ways now. He's very sensitive and emotional. Still a great shag though, for those who said the make love-ers would be rubbish in bed!

FenellaFellorick · 19/04/2015 12:45

I know. It's all very poorly designed, isn't it? Not to mention fugly. There's nothing remotely aesthetically pleasing about any of it. Grin

It would be much more dignified and far less sweaty if we just touched fingers or something to transfer the required genetic material. Maybe we had a special sucker finger.

Here's what you need.
Ta very much.
Job done.
Let's put the kettle on.

WilsonWilsonWoman · 19/04/2015 13:03

Bumping uglies is much better! Grin

JacquesHammer · 19/04/2015 15:00

I love sexy times. I'm having an amnesty right now that I must forthwith refer to sex as "sexy times"

"Making love" is utterly cringeworthy. Although in a more period literature kind of way, the whole "making love" being the act of wooing and seduction seems quite attractive

NeedsAsockamnesty · 19/04/2015 15:10

I'm pondering on this subject far to much perhaps I should take up gin instead

I'm with you OP, it's on a par with feathery stroking.

We do sexy time, business time or making boom boom here. Or DP will tell me I smell and definitely need a shower Wink. So romantic and not true as he's the only soap dodger round here

noddyholder · 19/04/2015 16:15

Sexy time is just as bad

SoleSource · 19/04/2015 16:22

Nothing wrong with 'making love', a nice slow, loving sex session instead of a quick doggy style over the tumble dryer fuck.

LividofLondinium · 19/04/2015 16:27

I hate "make love" though. Feathery-strokery awfulness
Euw yes, feathery strokers! Urgh, awful. Reminds me of an old MN thread about them and someone said they reckoned Nigel Slater would be a FS. Never been able to look at him the same way since.

Although its not as bad as my ex who used to say 'fruity' or 'getting fruity'
Oh god, just as I thought this thread couldn't get worse.

mrsdavidbowie · 19/04/2015 17:30

My ex called it "Jummy jummy"
No wonder he s my ex.
Maybe if I meet someone else , the first thing I should find out is what he calks it. Save a lot of wasted time.

DrFoxtrot · 19/04/2015 17:48

I struggle to comprehend that anybody would say 'sexy time' in real life in a non jokey way. 'Making love' can be ok rarely, I guess it depends on who is saying it and how cheesy they are.

tryinghardnottocry · 19/04/2015 18:01

God must have used the very very best marketing consultants to sell the idea of sex because as noted earlier it is of course joining together the parts of the body that expel waste matter . Yet however was responsible for marketing did a first rate job as it has made people go crazy over the whole idea and at times lose all sense of reality

Would you have your wedding in an Victorian underground sewer in London ?
