To kick myself for I gave up my old unlimited data mobile plan.

I moved into a new house 2 weeks ago, EE signal is almost non existent here, have to go 20m away from the house to make a call. Checked that O2 signal is much better and without much thought switched to Giffgaff. Only then realised that unlimited data plan that I gave up was rare as a hen's teeth and cheap, and I have lost it forever. Now have the signal but hate the new house that made me to lose my phone deal, and hate myself for being so stupid. Just a big moan, really!

Do you have an iPhone? I have an app called Onavo Extend that helps save data by doing something that may or may not be magic to reduce image sizes and downloads and stuff. Also go into settings and mobile data and limit which apps you use mobile data for.

Sounds like EE wouldn't have been much use anyway. And you don't really need unlimited data do you? It'll all feel better soon. Have you unpacked yet?

(I know some people would have unpacked everything in the first few days. I am not one of them!!)

Thanks Peppermint ! I have Nokia and adjusted the settings but again feel like that poor student that watches every MB ticking. Not a nice feeling being in late 30s. My phone deal was good except I could no more use it at home; but then I work FT and could have got another handset and cheap PAYG for making/receiving calls at home. Just thought it will be too much of faff. Silly, silly me. I honestly hate myself for being so stupid to let it go.
I use mobile internet on the go alot! mainly browsing, emailing (including pictures) and whatsapping. It was soooo good of not having a limit.

Everything's still in boxes as will be moved to storage for gutting the house.

Damn OP you could have got EE to send you a free booster box!

I tell everyone to get on to unlimited data and stay there. I work in data storage and data amounts are only going in one direction - exponentially. I have lost track of number of friends who have asked me over the last few years which plan to go on, I said any as long as unlimited data, they ignored me to shave 2 or 3 quid off the headline rate, and are now paying near double what they were and having months with massive spikes now they've all got iPhone 6s and what have you.

not much help I know. unlimited data. always.

Damn damn I know. I am an ancient whale and did not research well enough before switching. I am now on Giffgaff unlimited (not sure if it is reliable though), there is also option of Three for £17/month, but again no signal at home.
Thought of EE signal box but Internet wasn't working well in the new home... now it works but too late!

What's wrong with giff gaff? I though got they were cheap and unlimited too? I was thinking of switching from ee too is it not worth it?

meadowquark · 17/04/2015 23:52

BigFatPanda, apparently unlimited internet is capped at low speed in rush hours (3pm to midnight). I have not tried yet. For simple phone use it seems ok.
