Someone trying to recruit sellers for Forever Living in

The maternity hospital waiting room, AIBU to find this absolutely disgusting? She came and sat next to me grinning and asking me questions about if I had any other kids and if I worked and I saw the brochure hanging out of her bag and went to the toilet, came back and she cornered another woman and had the brochures out showing Her. What is this company doing to people?

Sounds awful. What is Forever Living? That sounds awful too.

I have been asked to join - added to all the facebook groups - they are a huge company but seem to make more money from people joining than their products. It seems to target Mums who want to spend more time with their kids and less on childcare - maternity leave is their way in. YANBU - they are targetting emotionally fuelled women who want to be at home more.

What are the products? Is it like Betterware/Avon etc but health stuff?

That is really bad manners, but from the little I know of these pyramid schemes, they teach them to never miss an opportunity, no matter how inappropriate the occasion...

Something to do with Aloe Vera

There's someone who pops up on my Facebook feed every now and again (she's a friend of a friend and our DS's are at the same school) - she's always trying to recruit with the big selling point that you can work it around your family but it's always done in a "look at my life isn't it wonderful, I can work but still spend the school holidays baking cakes with my children and going for countryside bicycle rides, life is so idyllic especially if you buy these overpriced aloe vera products from me".

So did they want you to harvest it by hand from their own plantations? Sod that

Does anyone want to buy any? I would run for the hills if someone started trying to sell that to me.

I do use the cream on my DS's excema andit is very good - he is allergic to most medical creams but the wheat based one the Dr prescribed doesn't do much for him - this clears it up and keeps it at bay but it isn't cheap.

They have a car scheme and 2 paid for holidays a year for those who recruit lots of people.

Is it something that can be bought in Holland and Barrett or is there more to it?

Oh, a member of our family has started with FL. I must get ten or more posts in my FB feed about it every day. One thing that narked me somewhat is that I started getting loads of friend requests from people I didn't know: turns out they were part of her growing network.

I recognise a lot of the marketing tactics from an old friend who used to do Herbalife. There appears to be a focus on "outwardly projecting success" (buying expensive cars, technology, holidays on tick ) in some sort of semi-Rhonda Byrne notion of "if you project it, it will come" kinda thing.

But what can you say? Each to their own.

It sounds absolutely terrifying. Like a horrible cult and you could get sucked in.

You could say 'Get the hell away from me. Now' in the context of a maternity waiting room works, TBF.

And if you had the wonderful luck to be hospital security you could say 'Stop hassling patients immediately with your creepy aloe cult shite or you'll be escorted from the building'.

They don't sell to shops and have patented their method of collecting aloe vera and own something like 80% of the worlds aloe farms so are a huge company. The sales are all online by recommendation only - so I think you have to know a rep to be able to buy.

There was a thread started on here the other day where a woman was moving into an area and introduced herself to her new neighbours with a letter drop saying she was a FL rep.

Way to make friends and influence people

Oh I am sick to death of hearing from FL distributors. I have about 5 on Facebook who I recently blocked.

Constantly trying to flog overpriced products, or recruit people into their teams. The products I tried are ok, nothing I haven't seen before though.

They all seem to brag about their 'incredible' lives and how much money they earn, the potential for free cars and holidays (though none of them actually seem to have these).

They all bang on about running their own businesses, they carry on like they have worked for years and actually built and created an individual business. Really they have paid a couple of hundred quid for a box of samples to hand out, take orders, deliver stuff, host product parties, and recruit people to do the same, not really a real business is it

Last weekend I believe was a success day, (Friend told me how amazing and inspirational it was ) where they all get up on stage and coo over each other and how amazing they are. And get awards.

Great, they are working and earning money, but its the constant shoving it in peoples faces and everybody repeating the same 'inspirational' drivel that does my head in with FL!

A woman I know is part of it, and it's like a cult. She's continually posting pictures of herself, heavily made up, in her new car, grinning inanely while bragging about her latest acquisition and the fact that she's 'blessed to spend so much time with my gorgeous children'.

What really gets me angry is the marketing that some of them use. One in particular, uses a pic of a desperately sad-looking child, with the words 'Mummy, please don't go to work today, I just want to be with you' which is the worst kind of emotional low blow.

Hideous.

I think I've just been targeted by someone, in on a few cake baking groups on FB and someone there who liked my cakes send me a friend request, five, cue a few weeks of messages about cakes .....latest message us some nonsense about working for myself, something about noticing I'm "chatty" like her and would I or anyone I know like to join, she's got a great life living in Spain blah blah.
