And nothing even comes close?

Curb your enthusiasm wins for me. Arrested development is returning (again)

saadia · 12/04/2015 20:16

YANBU - in a league of it's own.

saadia · 12/04/2015 20:17

Also love Frasier but there's something about Seinfeld.

ihavenonameonhere · 12/04/2015 20:21

I love the limo and the soup nazi. Oooh and the chicken one. I can just watch them again and again

Elaine you got to see the baby

Cosmothedog · 12/04/2015 20:22

I agree with you completely.

Our dog's name is Cosmo Kramer, in homage.

So many lines from Seinfeld are in our family vernacular. (We have a female friend that we secretly call 'Man Hands').

TheArchchancellorsHat · 12/04/2015 20:24

It is funny but I could never warm to it for some reason. Partly it's Jerry Seinfeld himself, I just kind of dislike him.

Prefer Arrested Development and Parks.

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 12/04/2015 20:27

It's ok but it doesn't hold a candle to Parks and Rec, 30 Rock , Arrested Development or Community. I think because a) Jerry Seinfeld is rather marmite and b) only one main female character.

FreudiansSlipper · 12/04/2015 20:29

Absolutely

George Costanza is the best sitcom character ever

I have so many favourite scenes rather than episodes as they are all great Jerry telling George about his dirty talking with Elaine's secretary, Jerry mugging the old lady for a rye bread, Puddy's staring the list goes on

Love Curb Your Enthusiasm too comes a close second as I am in love admire Larry David's writing

I really like It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Arrested Development too

ParkingFred · 12/04/2015 20:30

I think it paved the way for pretty much every comedy that has followed.

I love Curb Your Enthusiasm too, as I think Larry David is a genius. It has got me through many transatlantic flights.

Plonkysaurus · 12/04/2015 20:32

So many moments in my life are accompanied by Seinfeld (particularly George Costanza) quotes. Serenity now!! Stopping short, the marble rye, Golden Boy...

Tobyjugg · 12/04/2015 20:33

I found it as funny as toothache. Sorry.

Tobyjugg · 12/04/2015 20:35

Only "Curb Your Enthusiasm" was unfunnier.

AdeleDazeem · 12/04/2015 20:37

NBU but I do disagree. Frasier ftw!

airedailleurs · 12/04/2015 20:37

Don't really know Seinfeld and Frasier's ok but I find it a bit forced. Everybody Loves Raymond, on the other hand, makes me literally Laugh Out Loud on a very regular basis, possibly because I identify with his wife...and let's not forget Cheers...

Tobiasfunke · 12/04/2015 20:38

Every pub quiz one of our answers always has to be The Moops. It is genius and gets better on the second/third/fourth watch. We have a box set.

businesshoursareover · 12/04/2015 20:39

ANTI-DENTITE!!!

OP posts:
FreudiansSlipper · 12/04/2015 20:40

Elaine was very progressive compared to other female characters she was not married or desperate to be (or was she) feisty, had a casual attitude towards sex, not obsessed by her looks and had a career

I have used Man Hands too Blush regifter, you gotta see the baby, I was in the pool (well an ex used this), yada yada, the .... called they are wanting .... back, no soup for you, not that there is anything wrong with that

Obviously I am a little obsessed Blush

clam · 12/04/2015 20:40

Another vote for Frasier here.

businesshoursareover · 12/04/2015 20:40

It's the Moors you idiot, there's no Moops!

OP posts:
TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 12/04/2015 20:41

No.

Everyone loves Raymond is as funny as a dose of the clap. Grin

Frasier I can't bear because of all those glamorous women fancying him. He's revolting - that hair! It makes me feel icky.

FreudiansSlipper · 12/04/2015 20:48

m.youtube.com/watch?v=qKKTF9mBX-g

Jerry dirty talk it is very very funny

businesshoursareover · 12/04/2015 20:49

Elaine is one of the few funny female sitcom characters. Wanda Sykes on Curb was better though. I can't think of any others right now. Maybe the girl from Frasier but I can't really remember.

Plonkysaurus · 12/04/2015 20:51

Kramer and the junior mints Grin

Everybody Loves Raymond makes the Clap seem like flippin Nemesis at Alton Towers.

yumyumpoppycat · 12/04/2015 20:59

Dp and I have just finished watching Seinfeld, we really enjoyed some episodes but we missed out a couple of the last series episodes as we had lost interest.

It probably was a bit of a trailblazer at the time but watching it after Friends and Frazier means I don't really get that so much. George seemed to be the only character with any depth which is saying something as he was supposedly the most shallow of all! I think I preferred Curb your enthusiasm to Seinfeld but pos certain individual episodes of Seinfeld are funnier.

EastMidsMummy · 12/04/2015 21:07

Erm, Seinfeld' s great, but I don't get why everyone on this thread has only namechcked US sitcoms.

I give you Hancock, Steptoe, Dads Army, Porridge, Fawlty, Blackadder, Office, Peep Show.
