a song called "superb-ass" should not be played in school for pre teens

Apparently this song was played as part of dance for an assembly. Its one of these lame predictible songs by a woman that mistakes being a hoe with feminism. The person that sings it has fake everything to get fame - boobs, bum, hair, eyelashes, nose etc so a terrible role model. I'm sure it was a clean version, but should I raise it with the school?

You sure it isn't 'Super Bass'?

FlippertyJibbit · 12/04/2015 09:44

Is it not Superbass?

I think it's a tad bit "cleaner" then some of Nicki Minaj's other delightful offerings but probably still not suitable for a school assembly, maybe? I Would have preferred that over the Bach CD my headteacher used to play EVERY SINGLE morning for assembly though. Grin

FlippertyJibbit · 12/04/2015 09:45

Sorry Super Bass* x-post

medona · 12/04/2015 09:45

Yes I know that's its retail name, but its clear what they are trying to say with it. Unless they are pushing drugs, not that I think anyone does base any more.

Shameless watching Confused

HoppityVoosh · 12/04/2015 09:54

I don't think it has any other name than its "retail name"

Grin Grin

HoppityVoosh · 12/04/2015 09:55

Superb!

HoppityVoosh · 12/04/2015 09:56

It's not about drugs either.

Maybe it's about fish?

FlippertyJibbit · 12/04/2015 09:57

Well hopefully you've bought your children up to see these women as superficial and completely over the top and yours will grow up to be mature, sensible women with the ideas about life and men and relationships you want them to have.

From these lyrics and your suggestion, though, it sounds like Miss Minaj likes her potential suitors behind..

"Boy you got my heartbeat runnin' away
Beating like a drum and it's coming your way
Can't you hear that
Boom, badoom, boom, boom, badoom, boom, bass
He got that super bass
Boom, badoom, boom, boom, badoom, boom, bass
Yeah that's that super bass"

I'm not trying to be dismissive of this and of course
if you're unhappy with the choice of music being used during their time in an assembly then you should bring it up with the headteacher, definitely.

ashtrayheart · 12/04/2015 09:58

Su Perb? How is that not funny Grin

SoupDragon · 12/04/2015 09:59

Superb ass!! LOLOLOL....

AnnieMoor · 12/04/2015 10:05

Superb ass! Grin

HoppityVoosh · 12/04/2015 10:05

I think her heartbeat is meant to sound like a bass drum?

Anyway, now that I've stopped laughing, OP you are right. I'm sure there's plenty of other songs they could have chosen.

Sparklingbrook · 12/04/2015 10:06

If you did want to have a moan to school straight after the event would have been best though.

Mamiof3 · 12/04/2015 10:10

Omg cracking up at this thread
Got that Superb ass!

twirlypoo · 12/04/2015 10:13

This has proper cheered me up, I love it! Superb ass!

Sorry Grin

AuntieStella · 12/04/2015 10:13

I've never heard the song.

But (boringly) unless it's an ode to a fish, if you are listening to those words, splitting the words after the 'b' gives the sound of 'superb ace'

(Awaits Masha, as starting with the sound of the language is the crux of phonics Grin )

Allinson2014 · 12/04/2015 10:13

You probably should have complained straight after if you wanted to.

It reminds me of the time during assembly that Snoop Dogs Sweat came on. And it got halfway through before the head teacher came running in to switch it off.

HoppityVoosh · 12/04/2015 10:17

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 12/04/2015 10:18

I sometimes mistake being a rake with feminism

keepsmiling2015 · 12/04/2015 12:30

Suberbass = superb ass. I'm in knots here Grin that never even entered my head!

TheFairyCaravan · 12/04/2015 12:32

Grin Grin Grin

I've got a stitch from laughing!

KellyElly · 12/04/2015 12:33

If you were talking about Anaconda then I'd agree, nothing wrong at all with Superbass.

shouldnthavesaid · 12/04/2015 12:41

Never thought of that Grin . No worse than If U Seek Amy (Britney Spears) though.

sparkysparkysparky · 12/04/2015 13:14

In my dd's school they had some sort of talent show which included one girl (about 9/10) singing Katy Perry ' s " Letâ??s Go All the Way".
The world of MN will occasionally say I was right to think this sort of thing is unsuitable for pre-teens but will generally say I am a pearl clutching old prune to even think it was a bit too much.
I'm with Annie Lennox on the "not too much too soon" front.
But I did chuckle a bit at superb ass.
