John and Greg judging in the professional kitchen is just a jolly

I've always thought this and Laura sort of said it last night. What's the bloody point in John and Greg 'judging' the contestants when they're cooking in the professional kitchens. Of course it's delicious Theo Randall developed it and is standing over them whilst they cook it. I understand what the contestants get out of it but John and Greg are just there for a free Theo Randall lunch surely?

I hate it when they coo over the combination of flavours - they didn't invent the damn dish!

In the broader scheme of a programme where viewers are (presumably?) expected to guess what food tastes like based on watching it being cooked, I can't really see how their presence is more pointless in the professional kitchen than it is at any other point...! Grin

I know, bloody lucky sods

I'm always bamboozled by the contestants who declare they would 'love to work in a professional kitchen'

Confused

Double shifts, stress, working every weekend - no thanks.

Agree. My ex was a chef in a Michelin starred restaurant and we split up because we never saw each other. He got two week days off a week and generally I worked late. It's also not very well paid and very stressful. I love masterchef but it feels like watching people run up a mountain to claim a bag of gold not realising it's actually poo covered in glitter
