Aibu to ask for some middle of the night advice?!

DH often sweats a LOT at night. Sometimes not at all, but sometimes the covers are so wet.

I can't help thinking thee must be an underlying medical reason? It's all year round...

I have this going on right now, literally...

I made him go to the docs who took bloods but everything was okay and that was it. Night sweating can be a thing in itself or, as you say, sign of an underlying condition. Get them to go to the doctors. Think I'm gonna get OH to go back and see if anything can be done as it wakes me often

It might be a sign of diabetes or some hormonal problem, as much as I've heard. Send him to a GP to rule out stuff like that.
Apart from that there's not much you can do.
Also, my DP was always sweating when we just started, up to the point when he once soaked through all of the bedding with his sweat - duvet, sheet, mattress protector and mattress fabric. While with me he gained some weight - 2 stones or maybe some more Blush. And now he doesn't sweat anymore. I find it peculiar, but I guess that was what he needed - some love and unhealthy food.

Ah... He does have early diabetes but has been told it's reversible. He's doing nothing at all to address it though. No change to his diet and no exercise Confused

Same here at regular intervals in the past few years, though not at this moment.

He was literally drenching me in his sweat whilst he slept through it. I shoved encouraged him to go to the GP, which he did. Blood tests showed a slightly askew liver reading. No drink problem as such, but he had regularly been drinking more than usual as his mum had recently died. When he cut that back again it went back to normal within a couple of weeks.

I left our summer duvet on the bed over this winter an think that has also helped.

PurpleSwift · 06/04/2015 09:00

That's interesting topseyt as my OH had similar results but went back 4 weeks later for a repeat and all was fine. He doesn't really drink though as he is also diabetic..

My oh also sweats a lot when he's having a hypo which can occur while he's asleep but he also sweats anyway so I'm up worrying most the night Confused

How much does he weigh? My DP sweated loads when he was overweight however since losing weight that has stopped

My dh sweats a lot at night too. His side of the bed is generally noticeably damp. He is very, very fit and I think he must have a fast metabolism. He is often hot when I am freezing. We had to move to summer duvet and I often have to add a couple of blankets and pyjamas to keep warm.
