I'm so pissed off and feeling sorry for myself.

Booked two weeks holiday off work and a lovely cottage in the UK for a week for me, ds and dp. I'm 32 weeks pregnant and paid a bit more for something really nice as figured it was our last stress free holiday for a while until baby arrives.

Should be packing instead I'm in bed feeling like crap and have been for the past 3 days as I've a uti and a horrible, horrible virus. Horrible cough, sore throat, aching all over, shivering then sweating getting through 100's of tissues. Got terrible heartburn from all the lying down and coughing.

Every time we go on holiday something like this happens. Two Easters ago our holiday was ruined when we all caught proper flu while away. Every time we've gone abroad I've ended up with tonsillitis or we've ended up at the walk in centre with ds because needed antibiotics. Every Christmas dp ends up ill, literally every year.

I'm resting up, drinking fluids, windows open nothing is working. Dp says I need to try to get on with it now as I'll feel better but I disagree, I'm aching and all shaky just moving to go to the toilet or get in the bath.

I'm hoping so much to feel better tomorrow why can't we just have one holiday in peace Hmm

I feel your pain I had plans this hols, arranged to meet with friends with kids, was really looking forward to it, until DS1 & I had a nasty tummy bug on Tuesday. Felt utter shite didn't leave the house for 3 days, was as weak as a kitten. The Sickness bug moved over to make room for an oozing cold & could barely sleep last night, then at 5am DS2 started puking ARGH!!!

maybe it is something to do with your body sensing a break is coming and letting it all come out.

I'm not sure what you do in the rest of your life but if you're working and / or have a stressful day to day life you could be surpressing it the rest of the time, and body could be going "hey, a break" - and almost breaking down rather than relaxing! Do you get what I am saying?

I'm a single parent; I have my first weekend without my little one and I'm ill too. I slept awfully last night and have a chest infection. I thought it would be a great time for relaxation but the reality is I'm so knackered I think it's my body finally giving in!!

If it is the case you are stressed and really busy the rest of the time (be it work, childcare, whatever) maybe you and your partner need to relax a bit more when you're not on holiday.

Hope this doesn't sound too crazy but it always seems to me I get more ill when I have a bit of a break! I'm trying to limit my normal stress and burnout.

PS I hope you feel better soon XX

Aw no hope you get better quickly. This is me though tonsillitis on holiday, broken toes on holiday, always ill over christmas (although I only get 25/26 off) etc and it's annoying.
