To ask how do I get DP to tone it down?

We went somewhere today and he fell a bit which would have been fine - just mildly embarrassing.

However he has to make such a fuss - yelled really loudly when he fell and then stayed down for ages making a massive fuss and moaning at the staff for leaving things in the way (DP wasn't looking where he was going.)

I am using this as an example, but it's embarrassing!

AIBU? And any advice?

LTB?

PotteringAlong · 03/04/2015 16:55

Tell him to get up and stop being a twat.

Icimoi · 03/04/2015 16:56

Have you pointed out to him that the fall was no-one's fault but his and asked why he made such a fuss? If so, what did he say?

WickedWax · 03/04/2015 16:57

is he a professional footballer? Grin

Pancakeflipper · 03/04/2015 16:58

Is he one of those who watches the adverts about putting in claims for slipping and tripping?

brightasasunnyday · 03/04/2015 16:58

No, definitely not!

If you ask him about it he just insists it was terribly, horribly painful; the worst pain ever as a matter of fact Hmm

drudgetrudy · 03/04/2015 17:00

I'd walk off and pretend I wasn't with him!

Topseyt · 03/04/2015 17:02

It may be embarrassing, but if he isn't injured then tell him to grow up.

brightasasunnyday · 03/04/2015 17:03

The problem is, that although he isn't injured he is quite convinced he is.

How often do incidents like this happen? Is he accident prone?

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 03/04/2015 17:08

I would hate that. I can't stand that kind of showboating drama.

It would actually be a LTB offence for me (if a fairly new relationship and no kids etc), because it would hint at basically being a massive twat.

If not, and you're in it for the long haul, then I would probably be sorely tempted to show him the replies to this thread, and God knows that's never a good idea Grin

I would also point out that it would be a huge turn off for me…I honestly couldn't find a man attractive who behaved like this.

TendonQueen · 03/04/2015 17:11

He sounds about 9. Has he always been like this? Do you point out to him that he says it's the 'worst pain ever' or thinks he's really injured every time?

brightasasunnyday · 03/04/2015 17:14

He just thinks I don't understand! He's very "into" health issues - goes to the doctor a LOT. Slight cold is flu, headache is a migraine, bit tired is exhausted. Drama queen who doesn't realise he's a drama queen basically.

I would walk away too. Blush

Are we awful Drudge?

FenellaFellorick · 03/04/2015 17:16

what an embarrassment he is.

I'd walk off and leave him to it. Pretend I didn't know him.

Do you think he felt stupid about falling and felt like being injured would make him look less daft or something?

Actually, that would make him even more of a plonker but there must be some reason he's such a prat.

Jackie0 · 03/04/2015 17:17

He sounds exhausting, and unsexy ( sorry)

brightasasunnyday · 03/04/2015 17:17

I'm thinking of it Blush

and also I am still secretly sniggering at when he fell

mmmm, moany, whiney mardyarse, gotta get me some of that

said nobody ever in the history of the world.

MistressMerryWeather · 03/04/2015 17:20

How would he respond to a friendly 'Oh shaddap you! You're fine!'?

brightasasunnyday · 03/04/2015 17:22

He'd get all indignantly intense - "well ACTUALLY, it is because I have damaged my when falling, which can be dangerous because ..."

fortheloveofmike · 03/04/2015 17:25

Afraid he'd be very cross at me then as i would probably piss myself laughing.. which i have done at DH when he's fallen. I obviously check hes ok through the tears Grin

MistressMerryWeather · 03/04/2015 17:25

Maybe look his dead in the eyes and say 'Prove it' earnestly?

ImperialBlether · 03/04/2015 17:25

I couldn't stand by and watch it, I'm afraid. I'd have to walk off.

Grin @ mmmm, moany, whiney mardyarse, gotta get me some of that

MistressMerryWeather · 03/04/2015 17:26
