to offer a pair of FREE TICKETS to tomorrow's EVERTON v SOUTHAMPTON match?

FootballFan · 03/04/2015 11:16

Thank you to Lying for suggesting I try here.

I've got a pair of tickets in the home end (Main Stand) for tomorrow afternoon's match between Everton and Southampton. I can't get there but if you can you're welcome to them, provided that you can pick them up from a public place in central Cambridge this afternoon or from my village in S Cambs this evening or tomorrow morning. I don't mind being up at silly o'clock tomorrow if it helps you collect them!

I'm happy to meet you in a public place in my village and hand them over there if you'd rather not knock on a stranger's door.

I'll check this post as often as I can for replies while I'm out this afternoon and will have the tickets on me in case I get any takers.

I don't want anything for them save for the pleasure of knowing that they will be enjoyed by a real fan rather than go to waste. IF you wanted to do something nice in return you could, if you wished, make a small donation to the JustGiving appeal held by my friend, a Mumsnetter of certain age who next month will run her first ever London Marathon in aid of the charity Ambitious About Autism.

This gives me an ideal opportunity to publicly tell that mum how humbled I am by her determination and dedication and say GOOD LUCK LOVELY LADY!

I can't take you up on this lovely offer but bumping for you Smile

UghReally · 03/04/2015 11:19

Lovely gesture, I'm sure someone will take you up on it! Can you PM me details of donating anyway? I have autistic siblings so is a subject close to my heart :) x

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 03/04/2015 11:26

Here I am to bump it for you, FootballFan.

I'm not a footie fan, don't understand the offside rule but would like to wish your mum Good Luck also. Thanks

Can you pm me with donating details as well, I have a friend with an autistic son.

You're a lovely, kind person, FootballFan ThanksStar

FootballFan · 03/04/2015 11:26

It would be my pleasure UghReally. Thank you very much indeed.

She's not MY mum! She'll kill me if she sees that! Shock Grin Although we're both getting on a bit

She's a Mumsnetter who is also the mum of a gorgeous little girl who has autism, and is a lovely, lovely lady.

My dp, would have loved these tickets...but is flying home tomorrow and won't get back till Sunday.

Bumping for someone!

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 03/04/2015 11:32

Ohh... Blush

Good luck then, "FootballFan's friend, young-looking mother of lovely little girl"... Grin

Wineandchoccy · 03/04/2015 11:38

Bumping for you, DH and I would have loved them but I am 39 weeks pregnant and Cambridge is an 8 hour round trip to pick them up.

What a lovely gesture I hope somebody can use them.

FootballFan · 03/04/2015 11:43

You mean you're denying your DH the chance to go to god's own sport just because you're 39 weeks pregnant, Wineandchoccy? Tsk! How very unkind of you!

Don't football matches have onsite first aid people and ambulances?

FootballFan · 03/04/2015 11:49

I need to get ready to go into Cambridge now (and to remember to take the tickets with me in case anyone wants to meet me there!) so I won't be about for a while but I will check back as often as I can.

I apologise in advance if I only answer "I'd like them!" responses while I'm out but my mobile seemingly runs on steam power and pages take forever to load.

If anyone can take the tickets I'll pm them my phone number so we can sort out collection.

Thank you all for your very kind words and incredibly kind gestures. :)

Just popping in to say that I know this MNer personally, and can assure you all that this is 100% legit. :)

Awesome picture of the soon-to-be-marathon-runner too... like a psychedelic fairy, she is. Grin

RunningVLM2015forAAA · 03/04/2015 13:46

erm..that might be me Grin

I had no idea Football was doing this until she pointed me in the direction of this thread

Thanks to her and all of you

Tiredmumno1 · 03/04/2015 14:23

Bumping Smile

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 03/04/2015 16:00

There must be some Everton fans without tickets somewhere? Shock

Baconsarnie · 03/04/2015 16:16

Would love them OP but am close to Goodison rather than Cambridge and there's no way I can collect. Maybe try one of the Everton fan sites or Stubhub? Lovely gesture, btw!

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 03/04/2015 17:34

Bumping again, these are for tomorrow afternoon... FREE!

FootballFan · 03/04/2015 20:38

Thanks Bacon, I've tried a couple of Everton sites and Twitter accounts but can't do StubHub as they only accept tickets from season ticket holders. :(

It seems that Everton supporting East Anglian residents are thin on the ground but I'm giving this one last try, with apologies to all those who're sick of seeing my thread.

If you can get to me in South Cambs tomorrow morning with time spare to get to the match the tickets are yours. I'm happy to get up at stupid o'clock to hand them over so you can be on your way (well, not happy perhaps, but willing!) and have no problem with meeting you in a public place in the village if you'd rather not knock on the door of a stranger.

Secondly, thank you, thank you, thank you for the kindness shown to the mad marathon lady!

:)

Unless someone's contacted you directly, FootballFan, there don't seem to be any takers. What about getting on the fansites of both Everton and Southampton to see if anybody wants them there? If anybody does, I'm sure they'd come to get them from Cambridge, it's not that far.

FootballFan · 03/04/2015 20:55

I've posted on a couple of EFC sites/Twitter Lying but as the tickets are in the home end it wouldn't be acceptable for me to offer them on a Saints site.

Neutrals are a different matter of course.
