People actually discuss windbreaks? who has time for that?

CadMaryzCremeEggzAreASwizz · 02/04/2015 23:52

Sparkling, when I was a teenager we went on a holiday in the Algarve. At 8 am every day, the German tourists dug (yes dug) fortifications in the sand, giving them a space to sit and an entire bat-and-ball pitch.

In our second week, the tide started coming in after lunch. How everyone else on the beach cheered when their fortifications were flattened and their towels (and beer bellies) got drenched Grin

ThatBloodyWoman · 02/04/2015 23:52

I am definitely not being unseasonable Easter Smile

JuliaDream · 02/04/2015 23:53

Windbreaks are bad I think. The non windbreak campers won the skirmish.

sparkling I would love to see how a beach blocking thread on aibu would go! Carnage no doubt!

stoopstoconker · 02/04/2015 23:55

I once put big rocks under a sandcastle to stop people kicking it down, but otherwise I'm not overly possessive about beaches. Would probably raise an eyebrow if someone walked on my towel.

helpmekeepstrong · 02/04/2015 23:55

Def need a windbreak from this little dog sitting next to me. Easter Sad

WorraLiberty · 02/04/2015 23:55

I once read the letters section of a newspaper and someone said that they were going to the beach, so they asked their DH to grab the windbreaker out of the loft.

She said when they found a spot on the beach and unrolled it, their Christmas tree fell out!

Apparently they ended up using it to hang their towels and wet clothes on Grin

Maryz Grin Digging?

I did wonder why they had to have a big stripey fence around 'their' bit of the beach. Confused

stoopstoconker · 02/04/2015 23:56

what's the position on fairy lights for tents?

Sparklingbrook · 02/04/2015 23:57

Worra that is the best thing I have read on here for ages. Grin You were very very reasonable to post that.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 02/04/2015 23:58

Beach huts. They're the way to beach smuggery. I luffs them

Sparklingbrook · 02/04/2015 23:58

They are very £££££s aren't they Giddy? But not sure what you are meant to do in them.

ThatBloodyWoman · 02/04/2015 23:58

Fairy lights on tents, windbreaks and croaking frogs from the pound shop are all perfectly reasonable, sparkling.

stoopstoconker · 02/04/2015 23:59

christmas trees on beaches....avant garde

JuliaDream · 02/04/2015 23:59

Fairy lights and bunting are good. Especially if you have a bell tent.

Sparkling it must be 20 years since I read it and it's one of the few things I've never forgotten Grin

Sparklingbrook · 03/04/2015 00:03

On the beach I take-picnic rug, magazine and sun cream. I am a minimalist beach goer.

I particularly like Weymouth beach as I can just nip over to M&S for a sarnie come lunchtime.

I had no idea TBW. I need to rethink the whole beach equipment thing.

JuliaDream · 03/04/2015 00:03

That's a great idea, Worra. YANBU.

I might take my Xmas tree camping.

What's a bell tent?

thornrose · 03/04/2015 00:03

Julia stop being so reasonable. You're confusing me! Grin

WorraLiberty · 03/04/2015 00:04

Good idea OP

Or take loads of them and conifer everyone out Grin

CadMaryzCremeEggzAreASwizz · 03/04/2015 00:05

Who said Christmas trees

Sparklingbrook · 03/04/2015 00:05

Would U be unreasonable to pitch this ?

JuliaDream · 03/04/2015 00:05

Beach huts are fab. We hired one for the day once in Mablethorpe.
