Would an oil company deliver tomorrow?

I ordered oil through boilerjuice on tuesday to be delivered "on or before thursday 2nd april". I have ordered through them many many times and it states on the delivery instructions that a small tanker is required due to access being via an alleyway. Boilerjuice uses many different companies and only once before was there a problem with the company sending a big lorry, they apologised and sent a small one the same day. So at 8.15 this morning a delivery driver knocked and told me he was in a big lorry and couldnt deliver, he then went on to say he had done my delivery before and knew it needed a small lorry but for whatever reason it hadnt been put on his docket. I asked if he could arrange for a small tanker to come today as i am out of oil completely, he said he would go to the lorry and call the office and come back and let me know. He then got into the lorry and drove off. Ive heard nothing since. I didnt call the office as they can deliver up to 6pm so i thought they would still come but they havent and i'm now wondering if im going to be left til next tuesday without oil? Should i ring boilerjuice or the oil company itself? What are the chances i will get it tomorrow?

Did you book a small tanker, or just write in the comments that it needs a small tanker?

In our area there is a separate booking option for small tanker or 4wd tanker deliveries.

Either way, your contract is with Boiler Juice, so you need to get in touch with them.

You cant select the "baby tanker" option for my area so i write in the instructions that it requires a small tanker. It actually seems to be dependant on which company delivers as some are able to do it with the large one and some dont/cant. As i never know before ordering which company is going to be delivering i state it in the delivery instructions just to be on the safe side.

Anyway i have contacted boilerjuice on their contact us facility asking if a delivery could be made tomorrow so hopefully they can.

Your contract is with Boilerjuice, so it is them you would need to speak to. As for delivery over the Bank Holiday weekend, you might be lucky and get one on Saturday. However, in all honesty, I suspect it will be Tuesday.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I would have contacted Boilerjuice and the oil company this morning; that way you would have given them plenty of notice to rectify their mistake.

I don't use Boilerjuice; I have a regular payment plan with a local company who I can call and receive delivery the same day. They always match the prices of Boilerjuice and are usually even cheaper I know as I check the prices before ordering

My delivery can sometimes take a week - the earliest I've ever had is 4 working days. Good luck x

I think i might shop around locally and do this in future.

Never liked Boilerjuice. Most local firms will match them and give you better service usually. I would ring Boilerjuice and the other company ASAP and pray that they're working tomorrow. Complain that you've sat waiting all day and were told someone would get back to you etc. Cross your fingers! You should really have rung this afternoon. The odds are slim now.

honeyroar · 02/04/2015 22:57

Sorry, just re read that you have contacted them.

Bunnyjo · 02/04/2015 23:06

Surly, do so - I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by both the price and quality of service. I pay a set amount by standing order, so I am never hit with a huge bill at the worst possible time either.

UsedToBeAPaxmanFan · 03/04/2015 05:29

I second having a deal with a local firm, it gives peace of mind and you know you'll never run out. Plus paying a set amount each month is preferable to paying a big sum twice a year. We used to have this arrangement in our previous house and it worked brillantly.

IME, Boiler juice is very expensive.

Boilerjuice is owned by one of the huge other companies.
DH (evil) phones different companies up & plays them off each other until he can't get them to reduce price further.

Well i got a call back from boilerjuice this morning but missed it so they left a voicemail saying that he had looked at my order and it stated delivery would be on or before the 8th of april (next wed-is tuesday a bank holiday? because that would be convenient for them Hmm) and he said yesterdays driver only arrived "early" because he was in the area (the company is based in my town so they are always in the area) and that he could see no reason why my delivery wouldnt be made "on schedule". So complete bollocks. I know it said on or before thursday 2nd of april because i ordered it on tuesday night and was considering ordering the emergency delivery stating "on or before wednesday 1st of april" but saw that the standard delivery was £11 cheaper and would be here the day after anyway. I thought it madness to pay an extra £11 for one day earlier. I know i am right about the date stated. So i was all fired up to call boilerjuice back and tear them a new one when the door went, delivery of oil, small tanker. The docket states "small tanker-friday 3rd at latest-delivery via alley access at end of terrace".

I actually do have a savings plan with boilerjuice but im cancelling it now. Ive never had problems with them before but that voicemail has made me furious. Im still going to ring and compain about that.

That sounds a case of left hand right hand! Glad you got your oil anyway.

EauPea · 03/04/2015 22:43

Great news on getting your delivery.

Do you have an oil club in your area.
They consistently beat boiler juice prices, have had really good service even when needing a quick delivery.
