am needing a new washing machine, so I think, check out the reviews section on MN

the Miele washing machines are very popular there, great reviews.....so I google them, jesus christ they are like over £1000!!!

I know its all middle class shit on here but seriously??

We quite deliberately bought the cheapest washing machine because then if it breaks we get a new one on click and collect from currys. This was because our last 'good' washing machine took nearly a week to get repaired. The week with no washing machine was bloody awful. I can live without every other appliance but not without a washing machine.

A couple of months ago there was a thread where 10 people got chosen to review miele washing machines and to keep them afterwards. I was not one of the lucky ones but if I had been I imagine my review would have been v favourable!

I've got a Hoover Eco something or other and have had it almost 3 years and touch wood no problems.

Dishwasher I've just been given off my granny as she is getting a new kitchen fitted and they don't need a dishwasher, it was part of the old fitted kitchen and they have lived there 10 years only used it twice since they moved in and they think it will have been there whenever the kitchen was fitted so question how old it actually is and it works perfectly long may it continue. It's made by die Dietrich not even sure they make anything anymore!

Upthread, somebody said "don't touch extended warranties" and frankly I agree about manufacturer EWs.
OTOH, third-party EWs can be very good value. I have 4 appliances warrantied with Warranty Direct for £16/month (and have had for ~15 years now) and they have been very good on the few occasions I have had to use them. Also, domestic appliances are warrantied for 8 years, which is much better than most manufacturers' ones.

Um, Slix, you have spent 2880 on extended warranties based on the figures that you have given.

Even with the worst luck in the world, you won't have spent that amount on repair or premature replacement of appliances surely?
