To be angry with DH for spraining his ankle right after the rest of us caught the flu?

There I am, throwing up like the best of them while cleaning up toddler and baby vomit as well and sir sends me a message that he can't walk after spraining his ankle playing football! He spent most of today in bed as he's not slept well, you know, pain and all that. Not taken a pill or anything of course. With my belly still turning, I had to make him dinner nonetheless, naturally.

D'you know what, I was angry, but now I've started to think of punishment. It must be severe, I may make him sit through Pride & Prejudice...

he's being a twat.

yes it hurts like a bitch, i've done it often enough.. i have a badly damaged ankle from repeat sprains, its one reason i prefer to wear boots over shoes, but seriously, he should be taking pain relief and strapping it up and getting the fuck on with it.

you do not need to spend a day in bed because of a sprained ankle.

steff13 · 28/03/2015 20:13

I have little patience for people who lay around and moan when they've not taken any steps to make themselves feel better. He needs to take some Tylenol (or whatever you all call it), wrap his ankle up, and help out with his sick kids.

And you did not need to make him dinner.

Penfold007 · 28/03/2015 20:17

SweetBaker am really sorry you and the DC have been so poorly. Yes twisting an ankle hurts but it really isn't an excuse not to parent especially when it's self-inflicted. You really didn't need to make his dinner or do all the child care. Don't let him get away with it tomorrow.

monkeysox · 28/03/2015 20:27

Tell him to phone a takeaway. You're ill Flowers

BastardGoDarkly · 28/03/2015 20:34

You really shouldn't have made dinner for him if you aren't eating especially, just a......I can't cook, I'll puke in it...would have sufficed.

He's being a selfish twat imo.

SweetBaker · 28/03/2015 20:38

Thanks all Smile I feel better already just from a bit of husband bashing Grin

Why did you cook for him?

You teach people how to treat you - why wouldn't he behave like a massive twat when you are enabling him?

26Point2Miles · 28/03/2015 20:42

How come you 'had' to make him dinner? Did he have a gun to your head? Your own fault for not standing up for yourself

SweetBaker · 28/03/2015 20:48

I had a pork roast in the fridge that I'd defrosted before I got sick, so it really needed to be cooked or I would have had to throw it away. Since he couldn't stand...

Agree, although painful and restrictive he can dose himself up and do basic tasks like cooking or supervising children from sofa. The more he stays off it the stiffer it will become.

gamerchick · 28/03/2015 20:56

He took to his bed with a sprained ankle? Bloody wuss!

Strap it up and take painkillers man.

cardibach · 28/03/2015 20:56

Of course he could stand! It's a twisted ankle not a compound fracture!

VeryVeryDarkGrey · 28/03/2015 20:57

Poor diddums...put a chair in the kitchen for him

SylvaniansAtEase · 28/03/2015 21:03

'Since he couldn't stand...'

Does he not have a second leg?!

londonrach · 28/03/2015 21:03

Take out. I say this as someone who had food poisoning resulting in me using the toilet for both ends for 2 weeks and also someone whos foot blow up to twice the size it should be following falling out of 3 door car and getting foot stuck on front seat belt, resulting in me landin on concrete. Ok i broke a small bone and gave myself the worse sprain you can imagine. The colours and size of my feet were interesting. Took 2 years of pain till it cleared. Has your dh been extrayed. Hope you all ok. Not sure whats worse..... Please rest if you can. Be cross with dh when better and hes still in pain x

SweetBaker · 28/03/2015 21:54

good one, londonrach! He has redeemed himself a little cleaning up the latest batch of toddler sick though. Maybe just the P&P film then, not the whole series...

Why the fuck would you take to bed with a twisted ankle that wasn't bad enough that it needed painkillers?

There are plenty of useful things that can be done without leaping around Confused

If it is genuinely bad enough that it's disrupting his sleep he should surely be at the doc / A&E!

Marshy · 28/03/2015 22:11

You had to make him dinner.

Did you? Really?

Spartak · 28/03/2015 22:15

If its so bad he can't stand, he needs to go to A&E and have it checked. My twisted ankle turned out to be ruptured ligaments and fractured fibula and I was off work for a month. It was hideous. Far worse than a bit of vomming.
