I've always wanted one of these (sad, I know) and realise there are a lot on the market, some pretty expensive.

Any of you clever peeps have one at home that you would recommend? I'm looking to spend about £100 tops. Quite like the look of the Karcher but really have no idea.

All thoughts welcome.

I have a cylinder style karcher. Not sure I would buy again, it's faffy to get out and pack away. I wish I'd got one that's more like an upright, single unit thing. It does do the floors quickly though and I like the fact that you can just cut an old towel to size for the cloths, you don't need to buy special pads.

Karcher one I tow around here. Brilliant and fab for doing bathroom, grouting, cooker hood.

I have a cylinder Karcher, it is cumbersome but that's a positive for me because I hate cleaning and when I get it out, it has the power to do the whole house.

The trade off is between convenience and power.

I have the marcher steam stick. I love it, it's lightweight & easy to use & I can do 2 full floors or a whole bathroom before it runs out. Then i just refill, wait 3 mins & it's ready to use again.

The only thing I don't like is the lead isn't ling enough so I have to use an extension lead to reach all of the kitchen & hall floors.

karcher & long

I have a vax s86. It's the only one I have ever owned but I love it and would recommend. It's a stick type but you can pop the middle out so it becomes a little handheld.

I had a Thane x5. It was awful. Didn't even last a year. Avoid at all costs in my opinion.

this little beauty

Expensive, but I used all my Tesco clubcard points when electricals were on boost (3 or 4 times value of vouchers) so I only paid about £10 cash to top it up.

Powerful steam that takes out ground in dirty. Half steam option so you don't ruin wooden loo seats, laminate floor etc. Enough power and big enough tank to do the whole house in one go.

If its just for floors. I got one from Coopers of Stortford it has a dust compartment and brushes so sweeps floor at the same time. Is brilliant.

BestZebbie · 28/03/2015 17:26

I recently bought one after subscribing to Which, downloading the best and worst steam cleaners info and then immediately unsubscribing, total cost £1.
I got the Vax Fresh Boost one, which was in their top 10, but different ones were better for different things (I wanted carpet cleaning mostly) so worth checking it out yourself.

I have a beldray 5in1 which studio24 are selling for about 25 instead of over 100. Was dubious when i ordered it but its great.
