Do not eat a McDonald's at your desk in an open plan office

That is all

Angry

Though I think I'd add hot fish and strong curry to that as well.

I used to work in an office where someone had a McDonald's/KFC/Curry/Fish and Chips every day.

I think it's par for the course in an open plan office. Some ready meals and home cooked foods smell worse.

LaLyra · 27/03/2015 12:49

And chips with vinegar...

YoSaffBridge · 27/03/2015 12:50

It's mildly open plan - 10 of us. No windows. Terrible air conditioning.

Am not extra pissed off because I'm hungry and I can't go get lunch yet, oh no

I would rather smell McDonald's than fish curry! Someone microwaved that in our canteen earlier this week and you can still smell it. Boak.

squoosh · 27/03/2015 12:57

Reheated fish is the worst of office lunch smells. McDonalds is the finest perfume when compared with that.

DidoTheDodo · 27/03/2015 12:59

Agree about fish being the worst. Had to have words with a colleague after the kedgeree incident.

InfinitySeven · 27/03/2015 13:00

We have eau de burnt gammon at the moment. It's been here for ages. The cleaners have tried febreeze, shake and vac, a horrible air freshener that smells very sweet but only masks the smell...it's still really strong, and it hits you every 20 minutes or so.

Who on earth cooks a gammon joint at work anyway?!

YoSaffBridge · 27/03/2015 13:01

Someone brought kedgeree into the office?! Shock

I quite like gammon. I think that one would just make me hungry.

Exactly, Yo. And had absolutely no idea why we all remonstrated with him.
(and made him take the second portion home again)

bendybrickpumpkinpatch · 27/03/2015 13:15

In my office there is a woman who poaches an egg in the microwave every morning !!
We have told her it stinks and bought air freshener specifically to spray.

I also have two members of the team who regulary have KFC Mcdonalds and last week ordered a Dominoes !

ScaryMaryHinge · 27/03/2015 13:21

I used to work with someone who ate tinned kippers for lunch, then threw the empty tin in the bin so it could stink out the whole room for the rest of the day.

HiImBarryScott · 27/03/2015 13:29

There is a bloke in our office who we call Fish Pie for his daily microwave habits.

And then there's the guy who regularly brings in the curried eggs. And my close colleague who is fond of heating up smoked mackerel or salmon in the microwave to have with rice. And the young crew who regularly bring in MacDonalds or chip shop stuff or Dominos.

Our office stinks at lunchtime.

Shocking behaviour OP - love your username though Grin

YoSaffBridge · 27/03/2015 14:03

I worked with someone who loved Cullen Skink (Scottish fish soup). No-one else did, but we all had to suffer the smell every week - YUK..! Angry

squoosh · 27/03/2015 14:42

I once sent an email around asking people to please not heat up fish in the microwave any more.

I've absolutely no authority to tell people this, but it seems to have worked anyway!

AlternativeTentacles · 27/03/2015 14:45

Do not eat a McDonald's

Corrected for you.

emotionsecho · 27/03/2015 14:47

Reintroduce proper canteens and ban all food consumption in offices/at desks I say! Grin.

NellysKnickers · 27/03/2015 14:56

Yes, colleagues should have plain crackers and water for lunch so they don't offend anyone's noses Hmm
