Is a nasty piece of work. Didn't see the necessity in him saying to Ed Miliband people see you as a Geek! What's that got to do with him running the country. Hate personal insults
I thought Ed did very well. He already has my vote as I am strong labour supporter.

Paxman?

Elledouble · 26/03/2015 22:31

It's what he's been hired for though, isn't it? That's what people want to see Paxman doing.

And I'm a Labour supporter too.

AnyFucker · 26/03/2015 22:31

I don't like Paxman either

I think he is an arrogant twat along the same lines as Clarkson, he just makes sure his high handedness looks a bit more cerebral

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 26/03/2015 22:32

Oh got his name wrong. Insert embarrassed face here. blush].
Whatever his name. My feelings still stand

I agree. Smug and unpleasant.

HungryDam · 26/03/2015 22:34

I agree with you.

What's wrong with being a geek? Why didn't he ask Cameron why he is a toff and about Bullingdon club etc? Way too biased in favour of the Tories.

UterusUterusGhali · 26/03/2015 22:35

I agree. Very biased. Eds face at one point was like Hmm

Daffodilsaremyfavouriteflower · 26/03/2015 22:36

It's Paxman.

He ate Milliband alive.

Ha ha

Dawndonnaagain · 26/03/2015 22:36

I like Paxo. I've met him, he's kind, interesting and generous with his time. Good interviewer too. I want my politicians nailed to the floor when interviewed.

VeronicaCaCa · 26/03/2015 22:36

It was biased I thought. No audience shots of laughing or eye rolling for Dave either.

He barely asked Miliband any real rigorous questions; it was such a shame. Cameron got off lightly imo. Dimbleby would've done better!

Daffodilsaremyfavouriteflower · 26/03/2015 22:40

Well I'm a strong conservative supporter.

With the exception of Mumsnetters, who are mostly left wingers, I should imagine a lot of the great British public saw him for the little boy with no policies (except tuition fees) that he is.

Are you going to name call now?

That's what usually happens on here.

Behooven · 26/03/2015 22:41

I don't think it set out to be biased. It panned out as a true reflection of the two men..

AnyFucker · 26/03/2015 22:42

when the personality of the interviewer becomes the focus of the session, the point of it is lost

Norfolkandchance1234 · 26/03/2015 22:43

Yes he did but milliband caved at the start and got all defensive and flustered so Paxman changed tack and asked him the questions he did. Which showed Milliband sadly just isnt quite up to the job.

Tobyjugg · 26/03/2015 22:46

I like Paxman and think he's a damn fine interviewer who doesn't allow politicians to evade the issue or hide behind waffle. It was a sad day for the BBC when he went.

Norfolkandchance1234 · 26/03/2015 22:47

I think Paxman really held back with his questioning because neither of his opponents tonight were remotely in his league, so it wasn't worth the verbal sword fight for him.

AnyFucker · 26/03/2015 22:49

why isn't the clever, clever man running for PM himself then ? Wink

JemimaPuddlePop · 26/03/2015 22:51

He came across as a complete arrogant prick. More so towards Ed Milliband because of the personal angle but I don't think he gave Dave an easy ride at all.

The difference is, David Cameron handled it outstandingly...IMO he came across very strongly, as someone who has 100% courage in his convictions and wasn't afraid to answer difficult questions.

Ed on the other hand came across as an ego-maniac, desperate to gain a gold star all for himself. Although the questioning was a bit cruel and I feel for the guy as a human being, I have a clear image in my head of him back stage, shedding a tear to himself. Which is not the impression you want to be left with of a PM.

First time ever I plan to vote Tories.

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 26/03/2015 22:53

Paxman is a bit too pleased with himself, and interrupts a bit too readily.

Yeah, you asked a good question, but let the subject at least try to answer before jumping all over them and pointing them in another direction.

Think he'd benefit from the advice I've seen on here to just remain silent and let the person keep digging, but I suppose that's not allowed on TV.

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 26/03/2015 22:57

Mind you, I still have simmering resentment against Paxman from University Challenge, where he would be sneeringly patronising to someone who placed Henry V in the 15th rather than 14th century, and in the next breath would go on to mispronounce a really basic science word. Hmm

Topseyt · 26/03/2015 23:01

Paxman!!!

I actually quite like him. He is a real slayer of politicians when he wants to be. I shouldn't think that not too many of them relish an encounter with him. It must feel like lambs to the slaughter. He doesn't suffer fools gladly, that's for sure.

Sixweekstowait · 26/03/2015 23:03

Oh yes Jemima - he was so so so good on food banks and zero hours contracts Confused

Shouldof · 26/03/2015 23:06

Love paxman and grudgingly admit that Cameron wiped the floor with milliband, but, the "are you ok ed?" at the end after the interview was below the belt IMO.
