To give someone a lasagne that's been sitting out all night?

Made a friend a lasagne last night. It was inadvertently left sitting on the kitchen counter top overnight and has only just gone into the freezer. My husband thinks it will be fine. I'm not so sure. My friend is breastfeeding so I need to be doubly careful.

Do I need to make another one?

Into the fridge not the freezer

I'd probably eat it, but would not give it to anyone else.

MrsCakesPrecognitionisSwitched · 26/03/2015 11:40

So long as it is piping hot all the way through, I would happily eat it.

Dieu · 26/03/2015 11:40

Was it covered up? I'd eat it personally, but not sure about giving it to someone else.

PHANTOMnamechanger · 26/03/2015 11:40

unless you are in a very hot country, as long as you reheat it to piping hot, it will be fine

molyholy · 26/03/2015 11:42

Agree with PP's - It will be fine to eat if piping hot.

CharlotteCollins · 26/03/2015 11:42

Oh no, that's so frustrating!

You can eat it yourself if it's been as cold as a fridge in the kitchen overnight.

I wouldn't give it to someone else, though.

I hope you have enough time to make another one!

silverstreak · 26/03/2015 11:43

Would totally eat it. Do this sort of thing all the time and am still here! :)(Would possibly think twice if it was august or the heating had been on high all night tho)

NeedABumChange · 26/03/2015 11:43

It'll be fine. One night out in a cool kitchen. We did manage to survive before fridges.

PHANTOMnamechanger · 26/03/2015 11:48

We did manage to survive before fridges.

indeed, i think we sometimes forget - and people would have cooked a sunday joint and had it in another form over the next 2 days, or made a stew or caserole or shepherds pie big enough for 2 days and reheated it, with no fridge, and certainly could not have afforded to throw good food out just becuase it had been out all night.

we're not talking about leaving chicken, shellfish or pork out all night in the heat of summer, it will be fine OP

fluffymouse · 26/03/2015 11:49

It depends on the temperature of your kitchen..

If you live in an old house with a cold kitchen its probably fine.

If its a new build its probably not voice of experience

MsJudgementalPants · 26/03/2015 11:50

I'd totally eat it, I do that sort if thing all the time and have never been ill. And yes, even when pregnant and breastfeeding.

saturnvista · 26/03/2015 12:06

Thanks all. I've remembered that there was some leftover filling that did go into the fridge last night so I'll make another one for my friend and we'll eat the old one.

I'd eat it.

Discopanda · 26/03/2015 16:07

If it's beef or Quorn it'll be absolutely fine as long as it's reheated until piping through. Pork products can be as dangerous as chicken and seafood.
