Was I being unreasonable/how badly have I messed up?

DP hates tattoos, she has always been very honest and made it clear she would be livid if I ever got a tattoo.
So this morning I was passing a magic/fancy dress shop and decided to look inside. I had the best idea I have ever had and bought a temporary tattoo of a topless woman that looks a bit like DP......
She was at home so when I got home I ran upstairs and straight in to the bathroom I put the tattoo on and wrapped a bandage around it.
Then I confessed, I told her I'd done something and she wouldn't be happy I told her I got a tattoo but it's ok because it's of her.
She didn't believe me until I showed her, she was absolutely horrified and left the room. Then she left the house she just got in her car and drove off, left her phone here. That was almost 2 hours ago, we had plans for most of the day so she will be pissed off about missing that as well.
Eventually she will find it funny right??

Long story short- I pretended to get a tattoo of my DP topless on my arm and I know she hates tattoos now she has left and doesn't know it was a fake tattoo.

I'm not really into practical jokes like this. Pretending to do the one thing someone expressly dislikes doesn't sit well with me somehow. Practical jokes, comics like Keith Lemon and tit jokes are all a bit 18year old laddish for me. But i find cats doing cute things on the internet funny so we are all on different pages taste and humour wise.

Phephenson · 24/03/2015 16:05

That's pretty funny. Bit of an over reaction IMO

BasinHaircut · 24/03/2015 16:14

totally place marking to see what happens when she comes back.

But I think that's funny and I think she over reacted.

SURELY she knows you well enough to know you wouldn't have got a tattoo for real? Especially one of naked boobies? If my DH did that to me my default reaction would be to assume it was a joke.

Justusemyname · 24/03/2015 16:15

If it hurts or upsets someone it isn't a joke.

DecaffTastesWeird · 24/03/2015 16:17

Hmmmmm not sure how I feel about this.... I find practical jokers annoying but her reaction is equally annoying... Tricksy...

PS: I love (some) tattoos too so I'm of no help here

OhNoNotMyBaby · 24/03/2015 16:19

Massive over-reaction on DP's part. Surely she knows you well enough to know you wouldn't do something she hates?

I will say though, that I hate practical jokes, especially on the (very rare) occasions they've been played on me. This is mainly because they make the 'victim' look and feel foolish and stupid.

Your DP will NOT be happy for some time - you have some making up to do. Wink

Favouritethings · 24/03/2015 16:20

Pahahahaha!!!!

wanttosqueezeyou · 24/03/2015 16:22

She's off fucking your best friend, you know that, right?

HA HA. Now that really would be funny.

Teeb · 24/03/2015 16:25

I think I might have the same level of hatred for tattoos as the ops DP. If someone I was in a relationship revealed they had had a tattoo, then I'd honestly think we as a couple were in a different place/totally reevaluate the relationship. I can understand why she reacted the way she did.

ThreeFrazzledFandangos · 24/03/2015 16:28

I hate tattoos too, DP has several but we have repeatedly discussed him not having more (he has some that were spur of the moment ones that are frankly shit) and he agreed.

I'd have driven off too if I thought he had just gone and done it, disregarding our previous discussions.

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 24/03/2015 16:29

I wouldn't give a shit about the fake tattoo, but I'd be bloody horrified if DH had morphed into someone who found 'pranks' hilarious.

Is it just the tattoo? Does she share your sense of humour?

FarFromAnyRoad · 24/03/2015 16:34

God I hate 'pranks'. And 'pranksters'. If you enjoy this kind of thing between yourselves there's nothing anyone can do about that but ffs - are you the person who thinks it's funny to put salt in the sugar bowl or a plastic dog turd on someone's pillow?

debbriana · 24/03/2015 16:37

This is funny. Waiting for when she gets back

ARoomWithoutAView · 24/03/2015 16:38

When pranks backfire, but in a good way

BolshierAyraStark · 24/03/2015 16:47

Oh dear, bit of a daft overreaction on her part.

StopWhateverUDoing · 24/03/2015 17:03

Well, if my DH would show me a tattoo with huge boobs and told it was ME, I'd envision him bringing my naked photo there, have it processed, photoshopped and done.
She didn't overreact, imo

magoria · 24/03/2015 17:13

Isn't it better she went off for a couple of hours than had the most almighty row instead?

BlueKarou · 24/03/2015 17:16

I think it's kind of hilarious, but then I'm not your partner and I have no issues with tattoos. Hopefully she'll be back soon and you can clear this all up.

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 24/03/2015 17:25

I played the same "joke" on my mother (though I chose a rose and dagger motif, not a naked woman) when I was 15.

She also walked out of the house - not in anger but she was too upset to be near me.

I'd grovel when you find her.

Shapebandit · 24/03/2015 17:26

This is very funny. She has definitely over reacted... Hope she comes home and calms down soon!

seriouslypeedoff · 24/03/2015 17:30

Am I missing something? Personally I don't like pranks, but she stormed out because you did something to your own body? I find that very strange.

Stratter5 · 24/03/2015 17:30

It's hilarious, what an overreaction.

eddielizzard · 24/03/2015 17:31

i would remove the tattoo and then pretend i don't know what she's talking about. look - it's not there! huh?

err no i wouldn't because that would be majorly twattish. i would go out and buy a big box of chocolates and give her a back rub, and then grovel for the next 24 years.

Notrevealingmyidentity · 24/03/2015 17:35

I think her reaction is ridiculous. Imagine if a man behaved like that because his wife had a tattoo done ?

SocialMediaAddict · 24/03/2015 17:38

Is she back yet?
