Village group, it says 'does anyone know who this cat belongs to as the owners never seem to let it in and I am tempted to take it home and show it some love'

Followed by a picture of the cat laying outside my front door soaking up the sun!Shock

Bloody cat doesn't want to come in, it wants to lay on the step in the sunshine you nosy baggage.Angry

If they have a chip surely a collar wouldn't be necessary as any agency the cat is given to could scan? And would ort out all those people nabbing cats thinking tey are someone else's lost cat?*

There's a message on our local missing cats FB page today saying someone's sister picked up a cat assuming it was her lost pet. She got it home and it turned out that it wasn't so rather than just returning it to where they found it they've taken it to a local vet where the owner (who is none the wiser!!) has to go and get their cat once they're informed.

You're also relying on the chip info being update to date and owners don't always do this sadly.

Ugh bold fail...

geekymommy · 24/03/2015 16:20

I think we might need to see a pic of the kitty. To squee over To see if he looks like he's being abused.

spoonjarjarspoonjar · 24/03/2015 16:50

In my youth and ignorance I used to feed a cat who I assumed was a stray. One day he turned up with a collar and a name, so it became clear that he was still cared for. I stopped feeding him then but I still allowed him to pop in the house for a visit.

One summer morning he was enjoying the sunshine on my windowsill. I heard the neighbours calling out his name.

His ears pricked up and he glanced towards the window.

He looked out the window, looked at me, effectively said 'f**k it' and lay back down and carried on relaxing.

Cheeky little 'darling'.

Love this...by these rules I must take in the huge fat furry cat that is asleep onm my front doorstep every morning without fail - he has a perfectly good home across the road with open access but likes to try on the sad face. Plus he knows it winds up my two cats who he has a hate-hate relationship.

CatthiefKeith · 24/03/2015 18:15

Here he is. Does he look neglected or unloved to you?

He is utterly handsome :)

Endler32 · 24/03/2015 18:24

All the neighbours take my cat in, they feel sorry for him as he has no tail, he is perfectly healthy and well fed, when he doesn't like the food served to him here he will go next door.

elfycat · 24/03/2015 18:30

Your cat looks unloved Wink. He can come and live here (mad cat lady in training).

I love black cats, but my 2 tabbies might object to me taking in another pet. DCat2 has never forgiven me for having DChildren.

CatthiefKeith · 24/03/2015 18:33

See that chair he is sitting on? It's a big tacky cuddle chair, that is supposed to be mine.

I never get to sit on it as he growls at me if I try to.

Unloved my arse!

Yes, he is clearly neglected and unloved, and needs me to come and pet him! Pretty black kitty!

My sister used to have a 3 legged Labrador mix. Sadie-Roo was very good at giving you this look that said "I'm just a poor little three-legged dog, can't I please have some of what you're eating/sleep in the bed with you?" Lab mixes are good at begging, three-legged ones even more so. (Despite missing a leg, Sadie-Roo could pull on a leash. I think she could have pulled me in a dogsled.)

Tinklypink · 25/03/2015 00:56

He's beautiful and very similar to my little lady.

Our cat went missing for 6 weeks - did all the usual with posters, FB, vets, etc - nothing at all. Then one evening she turned up - fat as you like!
In the run up to her disappearing I suspected someone was feeding her - no collar as she continually lost them and is chipped. Anyway I think someone claimed her and kept her in until she either escaped or they thought she had adopted them... she hadn't Grin

Anyway - my little lady is 14 and I took her to the vet with a cough today convinced this was it as she has a bad heart. Vet (who knows her) was astonished she was still going and how well she looked - she has a cold so I have her a bit longer yet Smile

toastyarmadillo · 25/03/2015 04:31

I recently had some do-gooders post on my local fb group about having found a kitten that was far to young to be out, everyone was really horrified until the daft idiot posted a pic of this tiny kitten, which actually looked to be about 9 months ish, definitely old enough to be outdoors. By this point the cat had been given to someone else, so I pointed out they had no doubt in a well meaning way inadvertently stolen someone's cat and they should put it back where they found the poor thing.

It's the posts where people say "I have been feeding this cat, I think it must be a stray it keeps coming back, should I take it to the rspca?" NO just stop bloody feeding it, you idiots, it's coming back for the damn food.....

ClaimedByMe · 25/03/2015 09:39

The top story on my facebook this morning is a 3 legged cat found in someones shed this morning...I think the 3 legged cats are getting together to get the public to feel sorry for them!

ClaimedByMe · 25/03/2015 09:43

I still have to chuckle at this thread every time I see it in my Watched Threads list Smile.

Hope he's enjoying the sun Keith and reeling in more poor unsuspecting souls!
