I do think supportive PMs are nice. I always appreciate getting them so I try to do the same if I think someone is getting an unnecessarily hard time.

Oh I had a corker the other week. There was a man/woman argument goi9ng on in relationships and the bloke PMd me to say he thought I sounded (I quote) 'fun and feisty' and suggested I go along to a singles night at their local supermarket.

I am not joking.

I held off busting him on the thread as I thought he seemed Ok so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. But in hindsight it was quite funny and quite appalling.

I just told him thanks but go away and give your other half some attention. He obliged.

Anyway, after skimming through the whole thread I can't say I understand all of it (other than that Arsenic is actually a rather famous conductor and some Senior Citizens seem to have an issue with that) but I do know that Derick is a thoroughly good egg.

I only saw the first half of the thread in question and there definitely was a poster who's posting style (IN MY OPINION) was that of your classic Goady Fucker. Which (IN MY OPINION) is stating their opinion but then making PA digs at those opposing it purely in order to seek a reaction to which they then feign a wide-eyed innocence.

It's shitty behaviour and ought to be called out every single time but in all honesty, what is the point? We all know there are certain posters who can get away with absolutely anything and certain ones who will be banned if they so much a fart in the wrong direction.

I've been catching up on the thread since last night. I was really confused like this at first, but now that Psipsina has gracefully owned up to her part in it, it's now clearer.

We need a definite effort to report goady fuckers.

I always do, if I think someone is posting to inflame or upset. Same as we're supposed to do for trolls - don't hunt the buggers. Report them. Don't rise to the bait and it's them that end up banned.

And there is a good example of being a Goady Fucker, in Aethelred's post.

How is that goady? - Psipsina has admitted to her part in it and kind of apologised (I think) - so is it goady to state facts now, who knew?

And apparently you've just done exactly what Psips reported Derek for so you're hardly helping matters.

I was on that thread and was accused of being a sock puppet. I didn't like the ganging up on a couple of posters who had different opinions to the majority.So I stuck my oar in.

I also objected to ESD telling posters to post elsewhere if they didn't like the swearing on MN.

If that makes me a goady fucker. I can live with that.

Well, isn't that the internet in a nutshell these days? One person thinks poster A is being goady, and another one doesn't. If the first one reports, what happens will, one suspects, entirely depend on the MNHQer on duty.
