To ask my mum not to bring my kids any presents?

She usually turns up with a new toy for each child whenever she comes round which is kind but not at all necessary. They have LOADS and I've noticed DS is getting a bit grabby which I find unattractive.

YANBU - the kids would appreciate occasional treats more.

We have said books only ( 1 max each), as we have no room for more toys. We have still gained about 30 books this way though!

My MIL was like this so we asked her to bring fruit instead

Now she turns up with pineapples, cherries, kiwis and other sorts of fruit that we wouldn't normally buy (we tend to buy apples and bananas).

The kids love it, we love it and she still gets to bring something so it's happy days all around Grin

Worra - that's an amazing idea. I am going to tell my mum that. I appreciate her gifts, but like the OP, I feel like the kids expect it now. And my house is full of toys that don't get played with that much.

That is a really good idea - thanks!
