AIBU to think my brother owes me this money

We were due to come in to some money, basically my big brother was selling the family business and my sisters and I were going to take our shares out.
It was to be a sizeable windfall. As soon as he made the decision I knew I could make such good use of this money.
We run a pub and it really needs a facelift. My daughter lives far away overseas so we went to see her, and had a holiday as well (business class!), and I promised some money to my step daughter to up-cycle her new business venture.
On holiday we maxed out our cards, safe in the knowledge that it would all be cleared off very soon. Whilst we were away our business suffered a major set back, but again we knew we could give it a great facelift very soon.
But the minute we arrived back, my brother came over and just stated so matter-of-fairly that he actually can't bear to sell the business and that he's very sorry but there's no money. He's known for a while but didn't tell me before as he "didn't want to ruin my holiday".
AIBU to demand the money I was promised? I am in real debt now, and my business is out of full operation for a fair while too. He promised me!!

Oh god, why do you do this? Can't you see how irritating it is? It's not funny, it's not clever. Just stop it.

Twat

MooMaid · 22/03/2015 17:44

Oh, one of those threads. I agree with Worra

Another yabu. Dont count your chickens..... You spent money that wasnt yours. Your brothers owes you nothing if he doesnt sell.

whatsthatcomingoverthehill · 22/03/2015 17:55

Hahaha you're so original. No one has ever thought to take a plot from TV/radio and turn it into an AIBU.

Nolim · 22/03/2015 17:56

"He promissed me" is not a binding legal contract. Sorry op.

emotionsecho · 22/03/2015 18:04

What an odd thing to do - repeat a plot line from a radio soap opera as an AIBU, especially when there is a long running thread to discuss the Archers which the OP could join. It's as daft as people who send cards and letters to soap characters to congratulate or commiserate about something in the story-line that has happened to the character.

OwlCapone · 22/03/2015 18:05

Well, one thing is right, you're stupid whether you actually did this or just started a stupid thread about a fictional programme.

AGirlCalledBoB · 22/03/2015 18:18

Not really you did spend the money before you had it and that does not make good sense.

iklboo · 22/03/2015 18:19

Do do do do do de do, do do do de do dooooo.

Oodear · 22/03/2015 18:19

There's been loads of these threads over the years and they've always been funny to those in the know. Every Xmas there's a AIBU to ride a donkey when pregnant or similar.

I don't see why the Op is getting a bashing (& how haven't you heard of the archers? It's been going forever!)

Oodear · 22/03/2015 18:20

(Not an archers fan btw!)

Floggingmolly · 22/03/2015 18:21

Those in the know?? Sweet Jesus Hmm

Mintyy · 22/03/2015 18:22

Bad luck op. You've got on the wrong side of some spectacularly grumpy mumsnetters today.

MooMaid · 22/03/2015 18:24

I've heard of the Archers but I don't know any of the characters and wouldn't recognise a plot or storyline. It just seems a bit pointless especially if I'd wasted time giving advice.

Oodear · 22/03/2015 18:26

Those in the know = fans of said tv/radio prog /book/historical event etc.

Silvercatowner · 22/03/2015 18:27

But where is Scruff? That's what I want to know.

JuliaDream · 22/03/2015 18:29

Not everyone on MN listens to the Archers.

Some of us are more Coronation Street.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 22/03/2015 18:30

This thread is a load of Bull Grin

Oodear · 22/03/2015 18:31

The Archers to me is something my mum listened too whilst making the Sunday roast as a kid.

HeavenSpent · 22/03/2015 18:32

My wife definitely watches Corrie. And when I turn on Radio 4 at 7.02 the world implodes for some reason.

If it's so funny why hasn't the OP hung around to contribute? Instead it appears the OP is sitting back laughing at the posters who don't get the joke and are offering an opinion on something they believe to be genuine.

Oodear · 22/03/2015 18:33

Love that cross post Grin

WayfaringStranger · 22/03/2015 18:33
