I drew a line in the sand today.

I can't give any details but I'm secretly hugging myself.

I made it through a full day at work knowing that my Ivf attempt was failing (self pity overload)
I continued organising my best friends hen even though she's not getting married now and sorted the flights, accommodation and transfers because we all still need want to go x

Oh Phephenson, I'm sorry to read that Flowers I hope you have some good support this weekend.

123upthere · 20/03/2015 23:08

Read 12 chapters of a book at stolen intervals of time throughout the day. Haven't read a book properly for pleasure in years

I found two potential volunteering opportunities for someone who's made big progress in drug treatment. She cried with happiness that I believed she could do it.
Transferred the money I saved last month into a savings account. I managed it by eating out of the cupboard for a month and only buying top ups of bread , milk and vegetables.

Salmotrutta · 20/03/2015 23:10

And this is why I love MN - little snapshots of people's lives and the daily victories.

I went into work despite having a big fat molar with curly roots out yesterday. I knew they were going to be short staffed.

I had warned them I might not make it in due to tooth so I could have just called and had a nice sick day with dvds.

CallMeExhausted · 20/03/2015 23:12

Oh actually, I did more than just survive (just a little stuck in my own health issues right now).

I also made a stranger smile. At the hospital this morning, after I paid for my own ticket at the pay station, I gave a bit of money to a gentleman who didn't have correct change so that he didn't have to worry about finding change to park too.

Not anything big - less than the price of a coffee - but it made him smile, and who knows why he was there. Maybe it'll be his only smile today.

Welshmaenad · 20/03/2015 23:12

Bought one friend going through tough times some flowers and spent a lovely afternoon drinking Portuguese coffee and hopefully lifting her spirits.

Another friend who has been unwell just posted a link to some earrings on zesty that she adored, so I've secretly bought them for her.

Welshmaenad · 20/03/2015 23:13

Etsy, even, sodding autocorrect!

Christinayang1 · 20/03/2015 23:14

On a lighter note... I went to ds science fair and let him put a bucket covered in feathers over my head so I could cluck like a chicken....go figure!

Salmotrutta · 20/03/2015 23:16

Awww - love the giving change and buying earrings CallMe and Welsh!

How lovely!

I managed to keep cool and calm with little sleep last night. I don't cope well with sleep deprivation and my son(18 months) chose today to be whiny, destructive and throw back to back tantrums as well as refuse his nap. It was just me and him all day. How I kept myself from screaming or locking myself in the the bathroom I do not know so pretty proud of that.

Well, I don't think I've done anything very exciting, but salmo, you always seem like such a lovely poster, so it's really good to read this. Good on you.

Nice to read everyone else's posts too - making me want to do something good thing tomorrow. Smile

I had an mri today and I managed to do it without having a massive freak out, I was very scared

MoominKoalaAndMiniMoom · 21/03/2015 00:04

Salmo this is such a lovely idea for a thread! Snapshots of people's lives, all our victories big or small :)

elephantoverthehill · 21/03/2015 00:30

I found a lovely student crying in the corridor today, because he had lost his planner. I and another teacher calmed him down, sent him to his next lesson, assuring him that we would e-mail the next teacher that the student did not have his planner. The planner was found and I was able to return it to him after school at band practice.

Salmotrutta · 21/03/2015 00:32

nancy - good thoughts going your way!

And thank you Jeanne and Moomin - I just felt good about my personal "stand" today! (Well, actually yesterday!)

Spent time with DS while DD was out and actually played the game he suggested rather than trying to get chores done, then having a cuddle on the sofa and enjoying quality time together.

LayMeDown · 21/03/2015 00:42

Today I cried with my best friend about my Dad dying. My Dad died three months ago. I've seen her since but between family demands and illness I haven't had a good chat in about six weeks.
I satin her kitchen today and sobbed while the kids played upstairs. She held me and we talked and I feel I made a step forward in my grieving. So it was a good day. It's good to have the freedom to cry without being judged.
