It has gone a bit darker, but I was hoping for something more dramatic. AIBU?

And its cauld. Grin

You wouldn't have been able to see it without the glasses or some kind of viewer. It was still sunny, like late afternoon sunshine. We used the black end-of-roll negatives from old photo packs, doubled up. They worked perfectly. Even sellotaped some over 2yo DS's sunglasses so he could have a look :)
It was really clear sky here (Midlands). Couldn't believe how cold it got! I was 19 last time and I remember all the cows laying down in the field next to where I was working.
Really pleased to have seen it- there won't be another for decades!

TheCatAteMyTaxReturn · 20/03/2015 10:05

with clear blue skies, at the moment of totality...I...hung out some washing Hmm

Marcipex · 20/03/2015 10:06

Fantastic here in Devon. I had the glasses from the Sky at Night magazine.
It's just ending here now.
It got cold and the birds all sang like mad suddenly.
It's a lovely warm morning again now.

derxa · 20/03/2015 10:06

Went a bit darker here (Herts) Enjoyed posts about whimpering cat and annoying pigeon- As if they were signalling the apocalypse. Lol

viva100 · 20/03/2015 10:06

Am I the only one who finds Brian Cox quite hot? Grin

Roussette · 20/03/2015 10:07

It was fantastic where I was. Totally clear and it went dark-ish. Dogs barking and birds stopped tweeting. Stood with the proper glasses on as it reached its peak. The next one is in 2090 (apparently), I shan't be around for that so no way was I going to miss this one!

MissYamabuki · 20/03/2015 10:08

North Wales, clear and sunny. It was very noticeable (eerie light, cold, no shadows) but def a bit of a letdown considering it was 80%.

AnyFucker · 20/03/2015 10:09

yabu and oy-sucking

even if you couldn't properly see it where you are, the bbc coverage was magnificent

I had a proper little sob at the totality pics taken in the plane....very moving

AnyFucker · 20/03/2015 10:09

*joy-sucking

MyCarHasBrokenDownAgain · 20/03/2015 10:09

South Cast here - completely underwhelming - was cold and grey, couldn't see a thing, so business as usual really! Grin

SomewhereIBelong · 20/03/2015 10:10

was great here in Gloucestershire - no glasses, but had a black bag that let me see a red sun through it. just glancing at the sun, you would not have thought it was any different, look through the bag and it became just a thin crescent.

went quite cold and a bit gloomy...

was ace! made my day.

diddl · 20/03/2015 10:10

Beautiful day here (North Germany).

No clouds, sun clearly visible, not gone dark at all.

Just made a pinhole viewer & the light showing looks like Quenelle's pic!

Amazing!!

ragged · 20/03/2015 10:11

It was good when half in the clouds you could see the disk easily, but then came out fully & we couldn't see a thing without going blind. Couldn't make the shadow work technique either (nymph).

MrsCosmopilite · 20/03/2015 10:12

Saw sod all here - South of England. It got a bit darker, but really just a bit gloomy, not properly dark like the '99 eclipse.
I watched it on BBC which was more interesting.

Lifesalemon · 20/03/2015 10:15

It's been darker here before a snow shower. Disappointed Sad

wolf14 · 20/03/2015 10:17

It was a let down! 1999 it went really dark and when it started to get light again all the birds began to sing. Here in north London it was too cloudy and I saw nothing, plus it didn't get dark either just stayed grey and gloomy. Even my 5 year old asked when would it get dark once the eclipse had already finished

BuggersMuddle · 20/03/2015 10:19

It was good here in Edinburgh.

Checks latitude privilege. Yup. Grin

manicinsomniac · 20/03/2015 10:23

We saw the sun become a crescent here and there was enough cloud to be able to look at the sun without glasses.

But I wouldn't say it got dark at all. There was enough sun for it to be fully daylight.

It makes sense that it would be a bit of a let down though. The 1999 eclipse was hyped up for months. I didn't even know this was going to happen until 10 days ago. So I was never expecting much or it would have been bigged up.

We took the whole school outside and they all looked at each other and said 'was that it?' Grin

TwatMcTwonk · 20/03/2015 10:25

Prof Cox is very sweetGrin

Methe · 20/03/2015 10:31

We watched it all with a pin hole camera and were in awe when it went dark. I kept the kids off school to watch it and they loved it.

YABU

Methe · 20/03/2015 10:31

We're in the west Mids.. Not a cloud in the sky.

Dawndonnaagain · 20/03/2015 10:32

Suffolk. It got a touch gloomier for a while. Thick cloud though, so couldn't see anything. Got up earlier than usual too.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 20/03/2015 10:37

As a local radio presenter said: I've had more eerie gas bills Grin

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 20/03/2015 10:38

Glasgow. Saw a good amount between gaps in clouds. Really chuffed, and glad DD got to see it too.
