It has gone a bit darker, but I was hoping for something more dramatic. AIBU?

Nothing to see here..... (Glasgow)

catsmother · 20/03/2015 09:47

Near Cambridge here - have been stood in back garden for last 15 mins, can't see the sun at all and although it's what I'd describe as overcast, it's no way even slightly 'dark'. I came back in to check I'd actually got the time right as if I hadn't read there was supposed to be an eclipse, I wouldn't have been any the wiser ......

... the one in 1999 was fab. Total darkness, then a riot of birdsong as it got lighter again.

Bunnyjo · 20/03/2015 09:47

In Cumbria and it was beautiful here. Got a photo early on, but then the cloud broke too much so I couldn't get a photo at maximal eclipse.

South Yorkshire here; could see it quite clearly!
Popped outside, had a look, went back in.
Wasn't as dark as I expected though.

Clawdy · 20/03/2015 09:48

Disappointment here in Manchester...went a bit gloomy and grey but it often does that!

Quenelle · 20/03/2015 09:48

It's been perfect here (west of East Anglia) cloudy but you can just see the sun through it so no glare. Don't know if this photo will come out.

Viviennemary · 20/03/2015 09:49

It got a bit dark so I went out and (against all advice) just glanced at the sun and it didn't look much different from usual. What a disappointment after all the hype.

Quenelle · 20/03/2015 09:49

Oh cool!

Donthate · 20/03/2015 09:49

It was fantastic here. You needed the glasses but then at the crucial moment a little cloud cover meant you could see the tiny thin sliver disappear. Dc both saw partial eclipse on the way to school. Two very excited dc.

TheSconeOfStone · 20/03/2015 09:50

Could it see it clearly in Devon as unusually for us it's not that cloudy today. Felt a prat with my colander which I think must be faulty.

hellospring · 20/03/2015 09:50

Didn't even get dark here!

Collaborate · 20/03/2015 09:51

What were you hoping for? The 4 horsemen of the Apocalypse?

TheRealMaryMillington · 20/03/2015 09:51

It was quite cool here, just north of Liverpool, on the water.
A few small but perfectly positioned breaks in the clouds meant we had a few glimpses. It went very cold and quiet and eerie.
People must have been utterly terrified in 13th century.

Totality22 · 20/03/2015 09:51

Was crap here (London) but the Stargazing Live footage over the Faroe Islands was amazing.

sparkysparkysparky · 20/03/2015 09:52

Fab. Watched stargazing on telly but also made pin hole camera with an old cereal box. Weird twilight outside. No cgi, the real thing. PS ok, I'm a bit of a geek.

whippetwoman · 20/03/2015 09:52

Off sick here in the Midlands and at home. It got rather dark and eerie, a very strange light. Watching it all on TV and Professor Brian Cox is never a let down as far as I'm concerned.

ShatnersBassoon · 20/03/2015 09:54

I got some good views here. Was freezing cold, and the cat started whimpering Confused

atticusclaw · 20/03/2015 09:54

Lucy it did happen, I can assure you, its just the remaining bit of sun is so bright that if you look at it with the naked eye you will still see an area of brightness so large that you will look away. You can't see it without the glasses.

PP in Nottingham, it was very clear here and so the view was excellent.

KissyBoo · 20/03/2015 09:55

Really sunny and not cloudy here in Lincolnshire and it was rubbish. Hasn't turned dark at all just duller like on a cloudy day with sun streaming around.

Boo. Birds remain decidedly unimpressed apart from a really fucking irritating pigeon that hoots at all hours anyway. I hate that fucking pigeon.

ShatnersBassoon · 20/03/2015 09:56

I tried to post a photo there but it didn't work, I'll try again.

Off point but how beautiful are the Faroe Islands? I want to move there Envy

bialystockandbloom · 20/03/2015 09:58

Very underwhelming in London, it didn't seem to be any different at all, just a bit greyer and gloomier on an already grey and gloomy day.

ShatnersBassoon · 20/03/2015 09:58

I thought that about the Faroe Islands too, but then I wondered what else there is to do there, when there isn't an eclipse to look at Grin

fatlazymummy · 20/03/2015 10:02

Was disappointing in the south of England. It did get a bit gloomier, but that was it. What they showed on the BBC coverage looked beautiful, but I didn't get the same sense of awe and emotion that I did in 1999.

ghostyslovesheep · 20/03/2015 10:02

fab here in the Midlands - really bright sun then it went very dark - my cats went a bit mad!
