Somebody else has colonised the Portofino moniker since the original departed, but they are quite different in tone. Which must be frustrating, as I'd hate people I'd chatted to for years to think I'd turned into a rabid right-winger.

I first got acquainted with MN thanks to the penis beaker thread. Thing is I dont remember the posters name.

There are quite a few I recognise from time to time. I remember one poster called Elephantpoo, or something to that effect who got REALLY out of her tree on a thread and ended up p*ssing a lot of people off.

I have a theory about worra. She's a MN droid who lives permanently in Aibu and is programmed to be within the first three responses to any new thread.

If they have a distinctive style and post about the same things you can still recognise them with a name change. I haven't been on much lately, but Xenia has had at least a couple of name changes. Seeker is still here. ComposHat would have to change style as well as name to avoid recognition.

Cross posted, Rooner- I think seeker is on her third name change. She was outed on one of them, which I think was unfair. If you want to name change you should be able to.

Thanks Mehitabel. I was talking to someone by PM last year when we were moving house and I think it was Seeker but didn't like to ask! She is so lovely and helpful. Glad she is still around.

Worra is the most consistently amusing poster on here. She's brilliant. I always read her posts imaging a Mrs. Brown's voice.

Best of all, she thinks Did you mean to be so rude? is a crap put-down.

This thread proves just how difficult it is to be famous on mumsnet.
How many posters have passed through MN doors over the years? Millions. Yet only about 20 names on here & half of them long gone.

If you are famous it means that you spend too much time here!
I remember the ones that I agree with or the ones that are funny. The strange thing is that I have had personal attacks from a few and yet I have completely forgotten who they are!

It is rather sad to wake up on your bithday and turn to a thread on your favourite site, where you have been for about 7 years, where you remember every poster mentioned but you are forgotten :( I guess greyladies just drift through threads moaning mournfully......wooooooooo....
