help to buy isa what a waste of tax payers money

This new help to buy isa will cost 800million a year.

I wish the government would stop propping up house prices with my taxes. There are better causes for 800 million. If they just stopped with three scheme s houses would be lower and people would benefit more.

The well-off will benefit to the tune of thousands, and those who can't afford to save will get nothing.

I agree. Propping up an already over inflated market and enabling the enormous cost of houses by subsidising costs are not going to solve the problem. It also won't help those on lower wages for whom the deposit isn't the only problem-for many people four times their salary will not add up to a house and even if they had a deposit they couldn't afford repayments. And I say that as someone who could probably take advantage of it.

Should spend the 800m building more houses and in the meantime properly regulate the rental market and start taxing BTL.

funnyossity · 18/03/2015 16:11

Yes, he could spend the money on bricks and mortar. (Or give it to councils to do so.)

YANBU. Outrageous use of taxpayers money.

Allbymyselfagain · 18/03/2015 20:34

Great thanks a lot george. Im saving for my house now....I plan to looking to buy in the Autumn....So I get none of the benefit BUT your stupid scheme pushes house prices out of my already limited reach.

Anyone got an easy way to kill off my parents without arousing suspisions as their inheritance seems to be the ONLY way I'll ever be able to buy a house now and my mum refuses to let me move into rental again. (Joking obviously)

Agree with previous, Mine is another vote against.

Andrewofgg · 18/03/2015 20:36

New build could be subject to covenants forbidding rental occupation; how well that could be enforced (and by whom) is another question.
