Needleless vaccinations? Obviously I'm wanting my twins immunised, but I'm distraught at the thought of them getting their jabs. Why can't they all be done in drops?

Stomach acid can affect some vaccines (not sure how polio manages , though).

Within a few minutes they'll have forgotten all about the very brief pain from the needle. It's important that you aren't worked up about it, although I understand it's awful to watch, so they don't emd up afraid of needles.

For me, it was always more the fear of the needle than the actual pain with inoculations.

There is a patch in development which has been given a lot of funding to perfect. I heard a whole programme about it on the radio - will see if I can find a link.

Not that that helps you in this instance, but I am sure your kids will be fine - mine had fallen asleep by the time I got out of the waiting room when he had his!

Lots of companies and labs developing needle-free vaccination methods. The main problem is getting a high enough dose into the body to result in an immune response that then provides protection. Patches, drinks, tablets, intra-dermal depots etc all being developed but are not there yet. At the moment delivery via a needle is the best way. Sorry!
