AIBU to be disappointed that the Sherlock Christmas special will be set in Victorian times?

Surely the fact that they modernised it was part of its appeal. Is anyone else disapointed?

I don't know if you are BU. I'm going to have to reserve judgement until I know why they are in Victorian London. I mean, how did they get there?

Dr0pThePirate · 17/03/2015 18:22

Hmmm, just read about this. It could work as a one off. Keep all the characters just change the setting.

Hopefully it won't be a "someone fell and hit their head and now every things in victorian times" macguffin Hmm

Gatehouse77 · 17/03/2015 18:22

I agree. I feel the same way about Dr Who often returning to that era - it seems like it just for the sake of smog sometimes!!

Caoimhe1922 · 17/03/2015 18:50

Hmmmm. I wonder will DI Gene Hunt make an appearance?

Tanith · 17/03/2015 18:51

If Mark Gatiss is anywhere near the script, I'm not a bit surprised ??
The man is fanatically devoted to the Victorian era, and Steven Moffat loves to play around with time.

They said Series 4 is coming out next year, by the way.

liveloveluggage · 17/03/2015 18:53

A 1970s version might be good.

LaurieFairyCake · 17/03/2015 19:21

Where the feck is this years?!?

It's been aaaaaages

Tanith · 17/03/2015 20:48

They've had a bit of a Dragon problem in Middle Earth, Laurie Wink

Bilberrycrumble · 17/03/2015 22:05

My expectations are low. Hope just a blip and the new series will come along v soon. Love sherlock.

itsnotmeitsyou1 · 17/03/2015 22:17

I was disappointed as well, it works as it is because of the modern twist. Plenty of 'original' Sherlock about to watch (I watched the RDJ version for the first time last week, not bad but no Cumberbatch!).

Agree, Victorian Doctor Who episodes were always a bit bleh for me as well.

PuntasticUsername · 17/03/2015 23:07

Reminds me of a tweet I saw about Doctor Who:

"Ok, we can go anywhere in time and space, where do you wanna..."
"Victorian London!".
"Er. I did say anywhere. ANYWHERE at all. Anywhere in time, OR space, OR both".
"VICTORIAN LONDON!".
"Fine...".

Tanith · 18/03/2015 09:16

Oh, I don't know - I did love the Dickens one and they're always well researched (bound to be with MG's obsession, I suppose Smile).

Ahem! Back to Sherlock!

I'm looking forward to seeing how Moriarty has managed to patch his brain back together. I think they're filming it all at the moment, but it's not scheduled until 2016.
