To offer the lady, sitting opposite me in the library, a tissue?

I am sitting in the Uni library. Trying to work on my dissertation. Lady opposite me is sniffing loudly every 10 seconds or so. I have a lovely packet of tissues and would love to offer her one.
I have tried to ignore but it is starting to get to me now and is destroying my concentration. AIBU?

Do it. Why don't people take tissues with them when they know they need them? And if you have exams and this happens, then tell the invigilator - serial sniffers in exam halls need to be given tissues or shown the door imho.

Horrible situation .......... happened to us yesterday in the dentist waiting room, thank goodness the lady was called in before us otherwise I was going to have to wait outside. Do people not realise how unpleasant they are by sniffing loudly?

What an earth are you doing in a uni library without headphones? Wink Grin The sniffing, the rustling, the sweet chomping, the coughing, the 'if we whisper its not a conversation'......

Good luck with your dissertation, mine is in next week (wibble).

YANBU!!!!!! At all. Sniffers wind me right up. How can they a) not realise how DISGUSTING it is, and b) snorting the virus laden snot back up your nose is NOT going to help their cold!

redautumnleaves · 17/03/2015 13:06

I did offer the tissue and she politely declined telling me it was hf and blowing her nose doesn't help. I feel sorry for her because hf is horrible and I am extremely glad I don't have it BUT to sniff and sniff and sniff was driving me CRAZY.
She has just gone, which is no consolation as I only have about 15 more mins before I have to leave to get home to collect dd from school. Not a productive day. Written about 150 words and deleted about 80!

Today - it is much worse. There is a person sitting very close to me crunching on radishes. I feel like crying.
